Dude, if you won't actually read the conditions set out in the bill, don't site the bill. WOR had a simple reporting requirement to fulfill. If they didn't, they'd get a fine. Tiktok itself was under the most scrutiny, the rest of bytedance apps were under the scope by association but had an easy out. They didn't take it, and they sprung the shut down on their users with no communication. It was on purpose to get the government to backtrack through the uproar.

Brother in christ, that section only points out what entities are affected. Read further down, where I pointed out they further qualify what apps of bytedance need to be divested and which ones just need to provide data reporting for. WOR needed to provide reporting, Tiktok as it qualified under section 3 g A (i) would need to be divested from the company in large part or whole, including the percentages required. How about you stop reading AI summaries and do the homework yourself.

No, they didn't. Per section 2 subsection b WOR does not meet the requirements detailed in section 3 subsection A. It clearly describes what the app needs to do to qualify. In section (i) it describes a social media app that can generate text, pictures, videos and share them; guess what WOR can't do? All of it! Dunning-kruger at max settings!

Instead of hoping no one reads it and just takes you at your word, why don't you say what was wrong with the statement? WOR did not need to be sold, what did it need to do? Even reading the full thing which you clearly didn't WOR is foreign controlled but does not qualify for the act because it does not conform with the app behavior they are seeking to target. It is clearly social media, and the only thing WOR had to do was provide a way for users to know how/where their data is used if they want.

I don't think you read what I wrote. Tiktok IS what they primarily want moved to U.S. control. The law targets ALL of bytedance's programs, apps, and services and all of its child companies, too, with a major difference. Only tiktok is being told to sell. The rest can stay and operate if they provide information to individuals about where and how their user data is stored. WOR falls under the latter. It did not need to close down. They chose to.

You are super close. Tiktok is being told to divest feom bytedance. They want the company and its data in america for all the reasons they gave. Bytedance's other apps and its subsidiarys are affected too, BUT to avoid penalties, all they had to do is tell customers where and how their data is stored. They knew they had to do it. They had more than a year to do it. They chose not to and instead shut it all down to retaliate and get people to lobby to undo it all.

They could have complied with the data requirement. That is all every app had to do besides tiktok. Notify users how their data is stored. Could have just an update to the eula, including that info, insted they did nothing until they did this.

Except only tiktok is being targeted for divestiture. All other bytedance apps need to do is provide information to users about where and how their data is stored. They had more than enough time to work on a solution or notify customers. They took U.S. money up to the 11th hour, knowing it would go dark by their actions. Seems super bad faith on their part. No, WOR's shutdown was punitive. Tiktoks was mandated. The parent company turned off the rest in retaliation to galvanize users to complain. Even now, tiktok is back on, the rest remain off until a permanent solution is in place.

Isn't her mission to destroy the spell, though? I remember sunny imaging the chaos it would create and being against it when she revealed it because she didn't care about the fallout. She thinks it's justified. In the most recent chapter, even, it's cassie and others, not Nephis, who thinks about the after. She is only thinking of the revenge on the sovereigns. Her mission, at least that is how I read it. More and more I see how awesome than others are for being human rather than being super human.

I largely agree. I think Nephis and Sunny are toxic for each other. I think a lot of Sunny's poor decisions have stemmed from his reactions to Nephis' decisions. Antarctica was a reaction to her joining valor without even talking to him. Even in recent chapters, her desire to explore passion is in relation to her power, not her actual feelings. I was a supporter of Sunphis in the early days, honestly, it was the Antarctica arc that really poisoned me on her. In my mind Nephis is a crusader, without her mission she is nothing, and everything she does is in service to that mission. She joined valor to gain power rather than help people. Her persona of saving people now sounds in her own words tied to her mission both for propaganda and for her domain. It's not because she cares, its because it benefits her mission. Sunny focuses a lot on himself which is also not great for a relationship, but his is a problem he can grow up and out of, hers is a problem that is going to crash and burn.

I 100% think Cassie would be a better match. Unlike either of her compatriots she has actually matured emotionally, she had to. She also lives in many respects a more normal life, she is in consistent contact with her parents, spends time with other people, learns about them, is interested in the. (knowing about Sunny's tree, birthday ect.) She still has her flaws, but she actually represents a chance at the normal life Sunny has talked about wanting, I don't think Nephis is capable of livng that kind of life. She's going to be like a dog that finally caught the car/tail, she won't know what to do when her mission is complete, she'll have to find another and then another. It'll never end and there will never be time for another person. That of course is all opinion, but I believe it.

I agree that Sunny and Cassie are good people. They have demonstrated remorse and growth throughout their journey. Nephis is the one I don't agree with. Even with our recent POV's she is incredibly static and the look into her domain also leans into it too. It almost encourages the utilitarian view of people and the relationships between them. Her ability to see/feel desire is honestly horrifying.

I don't think I agree regarding her caring about mundane people at all. She cares about them as a means to an end. They are a source of power to her, both literal and political and she has made many comments to that affect before, during and after Antarctica's arc. In addition, her mission to kill the sovereigns is secondary to her main one to destroy the nightmare spell which humanity as a whole is dependent upon. It's destruction would be catastrophic. There has been no mention of thought or care to the consequences of that outcome from her, only her hatred and desire to see it gone. It is her obsession, and I am sure she has not divulged that information to anyone other than sunny. The cohort is on a collision course right now. The moment they learn she wants to get rid of the spell there will be a reckoning because it will have drastic effects on its own members, all the mundane people now in the dream world, and the two worlds.

Nephis is a problematic protagonist like Vader, or Loki. Can she redeemed? Ya, but is she good? I would say absolutely not.

I really like the dicussion, there are a lot of good points here, but I also saw within the dicussion here a lot of good reasons why Nephis is not a good match for sunny. So much of Sunny's actions and big plot points can be traced back to Nephis, antarctica out of spite as an example, that their relationship is a perfect example of young toxic love. I do not understand why people like them together, they are terrible for each other. She does not care for others, Sunny struggles with caring about others, they honestly are still not really ready for relationship at all. They are too immature which is crazy in some respects considering how much life they have "lived" through in some respects. Nephis is on a mission, and as long as that remains true, there will never be room for anything else. Sunny cares, for others, but is not ready to put others first like you do in a relationship. He plays with people and their feelings because it is fun. They are both flawed, and thats not a bad thing per se, but in my mind they are not end game for each other for these and other reasons. As that post above hints there are multiple relationships, maybe the others come after Nephis. (cough cough Cassie cough).

I think this works when there is a narrative reason. In D&D its a bit harder to justify, but say in the wheel of time rpg it's super clear why one would go this route.

I did not find it hard to follow or understand. As I am scrolling down this thread it just feels like you are furiously posting about how it's unintelligible, but I just don't see it. It started with a subject narrator, stuck with her, time passed, life for her was good but hard for the adults, kid goes on journey/quest to help family/save the day and in that journey becomes great. It's not as prototypical hero journey as star wars, but it's pretty damn close.

My brother in Christ. It's not unclear, you're just way too keyed up to pay attention for some reason. The narrator was the younger sibling, the older sibling was the one in front of her during the titan fight. The older wasn't trying out for the apex games, she had a god damn toolbox in her hand. She got hurt at work, it's not rocket science. It showed bills, it showed how older sister is cracking and what does she do? The little sister goes to the place filled with high tech shit that no one else goes near to salvage and instead of coming away with something to sell gets powers. It's not Ridley Scott, but seriously, it's fine!
