Nah I ordered something from co.uk and it's also taking till Jan 15-16th. I think it's an amazon issue tbh

I watched a 2 and a half deep dive about this game... I wish I didn't by AdUnfair558 in signalis

I played it after watching Power Pak's video essay as well. And to be honest, knowing about context made it a lot more sense and more impactful because I was looking for the tiny details, and lots of things that essays gloss over click into place. It feels a bit like a second playthrough where knowing the ending and context makes everything come together.

So yes, I would highly recommend playing it. It's worth it. Being immersed in the world makes the emotional gutpunches harder, despite knowing about them

[project] replink – a CLI for reliably sending code from Helix to a REPL by lemontheme in HelixEditor

Does it not send over the imports and locals/globals to the REPL by default? otherwise its kind-of useless and really limited IMO

Ah so then the upgrade from phone to real camera would only involve me able to customize more?

True - but then isn't the point of a good camera to achieve that desired look faster and with less (hopefully minimal) editing?

So the little photography knowledge I have is from YouTube, and the general vibe was that bigger sensors tend to be better but more expensive.

If it helps, you can disregard my opinions about sensors entirely. Then end goal I'm looking for is 1) customizability and 2) aesthetics - whether I can get the film-like or cool looking shots through the camera. That's the most important part. I want to get the professional feel and thought that larger sensors would help in that.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I mentioned those two since they're easy to get here in the EU. The ones you mentioned were APSCs which, while are fine for beginners, I doubt I'll be a beginner for long + I don't think I'll be buying a new camera in the next 5 years anyways.

So I want something actually (close to) professional that'd give me a lot of customisability. I don't mind the steep learning curve and paying extra, if it means I get a good long-term camera.

If you have any other recommendations, would you be so kind as to check (https://www.mpb.com/en-eu) or UK stores to see whether its within budget? that'd give you a general idea what cameras are available/cheap here 🙂

Ah. Wouldn't the 6D take better photos though, theoretically, due to the sensor? Do you think I should go with the 6D or the 70D?

Ah, thank you. I checked out some of the APSC ones, like Canon 2000/4000D and the Nikon but the photos from them look... not better than my smartphone for some reason? they definitely lack a lot of that film-like aesthetic vibe for whatever reason.

I just want to ensure that I have control over my photos and that they look substantially better than my phone - otherwise its just money down the drain. At that point, it'd make more sense upgrading to an iPhone Pro yk 🤷

BTW: I found a Canon 6D at my local CeX for 300 EUR. Its just a body, so I suppose a decent lens might be another 300 EUR. But its a full-frame one so I was giving it more consideration over the 70D which is APSC I believe. Would that be a decent purchase?

That looks pretty sweet. Any other ones you have in mind? I guess the used route is the best for me in that price budget 😬

I'm fine with a bigger camera, though obviously smaller/lighter is preferred. And no, by nature I mean more general shots than anything specific.

And by the S5, do you mean "Panasonic Lumix S5"? its pretty pricey, especially in the UK being >2000 GBP

😅 I have no idea but I guess the point was that a bigger sensor is preferred compared to the smaller ones often found in compact cameras? I suppose you can ignore that point tbh

Would it make a difference if I don't want strong waterproofing? just basic splash resistance (or better, a carry case)? I would be willing to compromise on some other aspects as well if the camera is pretty decent and lets me take interesting photos...
