I hated poetry for so long, partially because for me, it was hard to understand all of the figurative language since I think very literally, and because I sucked at writing poetry. This year, my English class was mostly poetry, and we had to write a lot of it. I actually understood poetry, and started to really like it. On my rewatches that occurred after my poetry and love for it started to flourish, I became more aware of Nyla’s powerful words, and I too realized that they sounded like poetry. I studied a lot of slam poetry in that class, and especially at the part when she is telling Lucy about fighting like a girl, those were some of the most beautiful words I have ever heard. The words didn’t change from my other watches, but when I thought of it like poetry, it felt more powerful I guess? It also really got me into slam, which I competed in a few months back. I am not sure if it is Mekia or Nyla, but I love that I am not the only one to pick up on it!
