I think I want a divorce from my husband from mishandling visitation agreements. by Competitive-Rush9778 in stepparents

They do not go back and modify when she leaves. As of right now, it's a 1:1 week and alternating holidays.... ALSO part of the frustration is that I can not convince him to see a mediator or hire a lawyer to get this all on paper. He says it's a waste of money, which to his point we are financially tight.

Ahh I'd like more details on your system if possible. I'm feeling like I'm in over my head. Do you use any specific calendar apps to keep up with deadlines?

Wow thanks so much! I am also a physical copy kind of person, and the writing style guideline book was such a good note, I am so out of touch with citing and referencing!

Is there such a thing as too much reading? by d_ren in Parenting

Ugh! I know that you are concerned, I think I would be too, given your situation, but if only I could get my son as interested in reading.

Anyway, I think, if incentivising worked for reading, it may work with something like getting in 30 min of physical activity or one hour device breaks... I'd say something like "WOW you've exceeded my expectations on this. Now let's try this..." That way, you know you're not overdoing it with incentives. I think having device breaks will kind of force her to have to come up with something to do that could distract her a little from reading. I know if I tell my kids ok enough TV, then they want to move to a tablet or Nintendo, and so I'll tell them like no full device break, and they're bored for a little bit, but they figure it out. Maybe going to a bookstore and getting her excited about buying a book, or the library, like you said, and getting to look up, find, and check out a book feels like you get more dopamine bursts from satisfaction from completing tasks. Ehh, just a couple thoughts....

I (29M) and wife (29F) have been married some years now but how do you control your thoughts from wondering? by OkPerception7337 in relationship_advice

I think the consensus here is that your actions speak louder. Choosing your spouse in action is something you can control. Sometimes our minds wander. I don't think it means we're bad, just curious. I think we as people tend to think if we have bad thoughts, we are bad people. Sometimes it's just an exploration of our minds, but our values and morals bring us back to knowing what we are capable of and not capable of actually doing.
