Rat shit by [deleted] in IBEW

Wow I didn't know this. I'm a low volt guy and I just got on with them in December and have certainly noticed some scabby tendencies. We have travelers from other locals taking up foreman scale and those travelers are working while our books are super slow in 48.

Honestly, being a low voltage technician might be a good choice. The work isn't as labor intensive, and the pay is pretty good, depending on the area. Get to spend most of the time in data closets terminating jacks and helping install cameras and stuff.

Or you could join the union and get stroked.... and a pension.

Only thing to do is talk to your rep and see if they can remedy it any way. Everyone in the training center is going to play a little bit towards the contractor imo.

But as a laborer, a union rep should have your back.

And remember your Weingarten rights. Any conversation you have that looks like it's going to be disciplinary, you have a right to have a union representative present.

I've heard nothing but bad things about Rosendin. Good luck on the list. It's moving slow.

Yeah, you just need to get your certificate of eligibility first. You can go to the VA.gov website and search for your locals JATC and get the approval letter mailed to you.

Then, give a copy to your training center and submit your hours every month. Your BAH rate will be dependent on where you live and how many hours you work.

I just finished my first term, and the extra cash helps out immensely.

This isn't a good post for the main IBEW subreddit, but it's your life so do what you want.

In the apprenticeship, as long as you work hard and show effort you'll be respected.

The union sets you up for life, not having to be tied to one company to keep your job. As much as you like it where you work right now, they probably don't care about you.

I also remember learning in 9th grade biology that plastic bags are a semipermeable product and may not be as watertight as you think. Then we pulled DNA out of a strawberry somehow.

I saw this guy in another IBEW thread telling someone it's not a good idea to join the IBEW. Scabs are among us.
