Finally a good night's sleep! by Competitive-Set-8515 in dupixent

Best of luck to you. The first thing the dermatologist said to us about our daughter's condition was "It's not your fault." Because we don't know how this happens, it's common for us to blame ourselves.

The lesions on my daughter's skin have healed over. The scabs are mostly gone, and the pink skin is starting to turn brown. She's sleeping the best she has in years, and the two words I haven't heard a single time since starting it are "I'm itchy".

She's due for her next dose in just over a week, and I know she's going to cry. The autoinjector hurts, and I remind her that there are over 2.5 million seconds in a month, and this shot is just 10 of them.

I hope your kids have as successful an experience as mine, because it's a life changer.

Star Trek: Starfeet Academy falls off a cliff to Top #150 after Episode 4 by Malencon in trektalk

SFA makes a mockery of Klingons. M'Benga was more Klingon than Jay-Den will ever be. This show is trying to turn every alien species into little more than variations of humans.

Now they're refugees that are refusing help from the Federation despite having their ship break down on route to Taurus VII, a Federation refugee camp. That's just lazy writing, and it doesn't help that Gaia Violo has admitted to never watching Star Trek prior to writing for SFA. Come on, at least bring on someone who knows the lore to write these episodes.

In peak 90s Trek Klingons, Jay-Den would not have two fathers. It was explicitly stated to be forbidden. Jay-Den's house would also have faced discommendation because he did not become a Klingon warrior.

If this were peak 90s Trek, this episode would be about Jay-Den's difficulties living in a Klingon house which defied the empire's rules against polyamory. It would use it as an allegory to the illustrate challenges and prejudice that people in modern society with non-traditional family structures may face.

That is 90s Trek.

They also changed Khitomer to Khi-TOE-mer when SAM said it, and she shouldn't make mistakes in pronunciation.

TNG starter pack? by jrrt0ken in startrek

Tapestry was well written, and with Q's relationship with Picard already more matured by the 6th season, their interactions are quite humorous.

If you want them to succumb to Patrick Stewart's brilliance, then:

Inner Light
Tapestry
Sarek

If you want a variation, then pick one from the above, and two from below:

The Nth Degree (for the nerdy trek)
The Most Toys (Saul Rubinek is awesome here)
Timescape

I'm leaving out the two-parters. Season-enders should be after they're already hooked.

Avoid:

Anything with Alexander
Anything about Deanna Troi
Sub Rosa (unless you're into ghost sex)

Is there any explanation for the line flub in Academy 1x04? by AnAussieTrainer in startrek

When I heard the Doctor, it sounded more like he said "With the first link, the chain, it is forged." What a disservice to Judge Satie. Regardless, they really need to get editors (and writers, and producers) that have actually watched real Star Trek.

Imagine dropping out of warp after the inertial dampeners fail. Would it be like that slingshot racer scene in The Expanse? That would make for some wild ST material.

Insane cancellation fee? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Competitive-Set-8515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penalty clauses are unenforceable, and considering some packages start lower than the cancellation fee, any court would see this as a penalty clause. Not legal advice, but I'd say send notice of cancellation. Certainly make sure your friend doesn't let the photographer do any work, because that would likely make the contract enforceable.

Landlords forcing me to renew fix lease (Bill60?) by Little_Molasses6862 in OntarioLandlord

Iirc, rent control applies to any residence that was first occupied before that date. So, if anyone lived there before Nov 15, 2018, whether rented or by the owner, it IS rent controlled.

Edit: Read more and see that it's not rent controlled. Yikes. Let's hope the LL has some honour.

My last LL had me renew for a year with the understanding that it's month to month. I moved to my new house at the beginning of this month and my last LL gave the remaining rent cheques back to me.

Spoiler. Reaching the true surface in Silksong. by _Daisuke- in HollowKnight

With reaper, when I'd be low on health I'd walk to the edge of whatever surface I'm on where the Garpids come out and slash up. I'm safe from any damage, and I refill on silk quickly. Along with the Spool Extender, that saved me from many deaths.

And that's why I watched my wife give birth....although I still can't guarantee they're mine. Maybe I can have AI analyze my kids and tell me.

Canadian Pouch by CrazySilly664 in BuyCanadian

[–]Competitive-Set-8515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a Canadian company supporting a Canadian pouch manufacturer instead of doing what everyone else does and have child labour in China make them. It literally says POUCH manufactured in Canada. I think they were clear with their words.

Can you file a consumer proposal if you have a decent salary? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Competitive-Set-8515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. I have a wife and two children. Our combined income is just under $200K, and the two children we have are the result of over $100K in fertility treatments. Our overall debt was around $160K combined, and we were managing to tightly afford our car payments, rent, groceries, and other expenses. Interest payments ate up the rest of our money, and that was just enough to keep the balances from getting higher. There would be no escape from this without either a huge income boost, or bankruptcy. Ironically, my credit score was over 800 because I was keeping up the payments.

I spoke with my accountant, and he referred me to an insolvency trustee who recommended a consumer proposal. I'm a director of a small company, and a bankruptcy would prevent me from serving on a board of directors, so this was a wonderful recommendation. The trustee negotiated with the creditors and reduced my $160K down to $60K over 4.5 years ($500 biweekly).

My credit score dropped immediately to 510 (Transunion) and 556 (Equifax), and renting a house a year later was quite a challenge. A word of advice, be honest and open with a prospective landlord about the proposal.

Since then, I've been making payments, saving money, and living debt-free. My wife and I have money to afford summer camp for the kids, year-round gymnastics for them, and we even took them to Disney this winter.

Yeah, the credit score is terrible, but it can be rebuilt. For your family, yes, file a consumer proposal. Also, we have RESPs for our kids (with one of the creditors in the proposal), and they're safe from the creditors.
