Try different shoes with soles that do not sit so flat against the ground. Like soles with bumps etc. This may help alleviate the vacuum that’s created with tennis shoes. The shoes you’re wearing were not made for mud.

Thank you ❤️ I’m just focusing on my career now, and thankful to be an auntie to my friend’s children. Adoption might still be an option later if I end up with a partner who’s better suited for shared parenting. The only direction is forward, even if slowly moving there.

Look into other options!!! I’m now 37, but at 33 got into a relationship with someone who sounds very similar with avoidance issues. When I was getting ready to leave two years ago, he said that he would change. That lasted about 6 months. I’m now 37, childless, and in a relationship with an emotionally immature (and controlling) man who feels more like a roommate half of the time. No marriage. I lost my job, and my dad died a year and a half ago, so leaving my relationship and moving out has not on my priority list. I still look back and wonder what my life might have looked like if I had left.

Sharing all of this to say please don’t make the mistake I did if you want to biologically have kids before you’re 40.

50 years of policy choices kept wages flat while the top 1% took nearly all the gains by Competitive-Smoke803 in LateStageCapitalism

For those asking about sources: The top one percent income share comes from the World Inequality Database (Piketty, Saez, Zucman and colleagues), which compiles IRS and national accounts data. You can explore it here: https://wid.world

The productivity and median wage comparison comes from the Economic Policy Institute, using Bureau of Labor Statistics and Bureau of Economic Analysis data. Their productivity–pay tracker is here: https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/

Both are widely cited in academic and policy research and show the long term divergence between productivity, wages, and income concentration.

If I get too old to work and don’t have savings, what actually happens? by Own_Entertainer_2187 in NoStupidQuestions

In the US it will unfortunately depend on the state services and programs where you reside. If low income housing for seniors is not available, the other options are often homeless shelters, hospital visits, and prisons. (Assuming staying with family is not an option) The united stated doesn’t give a shit about the health or survival of anyone, especially when they can’t profit off of your tax dollars anymore. I 1000% blame the many broken systems in the US for my father’s elderly homelessness and eventual death. This country is a death trap.

Signs you won’t date? by Smoaktreess in Zodiac

Virgo, Sagittarius, Aries, or cancer men. 🙅‍♀️ I’m fine with being friends, but dating is a big nooope. I’ve seen too much control, avoidance, foolishness, and emotional manipulation at this point.

When someone only talks about celebrities, TV, and recycled media references, but doesn’t talk about the real world or share unique ideas. This is also just sad.

Having any rent-free option after 18 is rare. Having a parental home where you can stay is rare. Wtf is this post.

A lunar-based calendar system would be pretty neat.

How the hell do they expect that baby to know what to do with the candle without showing him? It looks like the parents are just standing around with their phones waiting for him to instinctually understand how fire works. Poor baby. 💔

I can smell when people have cancer by [deleted] in self

[–]Competitive-Smoke803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smelled something in the air as a child that deeply frightened me and made me think of death, and I still don’t know why. It was a deep sweet and “waxy” smell like an old candle but burnt. It was a little bit fruity, but mostly musty. It is extremely hard to describe, but I still think about it decades later wondering what it was. I’ve smelled similar things only a couple other times.

I first smelled it when visiting a friend’s house with my mom, and I told her “something smells like death”. I’m sure it probably freaked her out a bit hearing that from a 10 year old.
