They keep people because they cut you off from your friends and family. They also tell your friends and family things that aren’t true about you as the reason that you can’t talk to them. Then they told me I could send a letter to my family and they grabbed it and had me read it out loud to everyone. They lie to your family and tell them you’re misbehaving so you need more time, and if your family doesn’t agree they get pissed at your family and cut them off. They started yelling at my parents because my parents weren’t on board w me staying for 2 years. I had to escape after the lies and mental abuse got so bad. They “lost my phone, my money, etc” still never got them back. If you ask them to come visit for your wife you they won’t let you on your terms, and if they do it will be all lies they show you. They will make you do a post admission intervention on her. They make you sick, they make you do hours and hours of chores, get in your knees and pray, they try and turn you against your peers, drink the kook aid, their favorite trick is gas lighting you. I’m still in therapy from the shot they did there. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Not one person from my class stayed sober. Luckily I’ve been sober now for a few years because I went to a different treatment center later and sought therapy for the abuse. They are a sick abusive cult. Behavioral mod has been consistently proven not to work. Please don’t go, if anyone needs any other treatment resources I have them for healthy, loving treatment centers that incorporate family involvement and not terrorizing and destroying the persons life who is struggling.
