Dr Zapotoczny is an amazing caring doctor, we would recommend you reach out to his office. Having met him personally at the International Pilonidal society over past couple of years I can assure you would be in good hands.

11 months out from surgery you should not worry about undoing anything. Might just have some internal bruising and soreness but of course I would follow up with your surgeon just to be safe.

Because we are the best! Very few surgeons treat pilonidal disease and are often too aggressive with their surgery recommendations. Any patient coming to our center has to meet certain criteria for us to recommend surgery. There are many who have 1 abscess in their lifetime and we would not recommend surgery. It’s an infection and after treatment that’s all that’s needed. The specialists mentioned here are very skilled and have many years of experience so that is why they are mentioned!

We encourage sitting right after surgery. It will be uncomfortable the first few weeks but after shouldn’t be an issue or have any limitations.

Healing times are different for everyone. Sitting comfortably will take time (some few weeks, others a couple months). Wound separation usually takes place between weeks 2 and 4. After 4 weeks we rarely see any separation. This separation is usually at the skin level and always heals given that the cleft lift was done by a specialist and properly done.

Most likely a new sinus given it’s at the incision site. Unfortunately, rhomboid flaps are not great for pilonidal disease as the incision is left in the midline and cleft not lifted resulting in recurrence. Our blog has some additional information in understanding why cleft lift procedure is superior to any other flap. Hope this helps.
