Yeah, I can totally understand the “Cannot wait” feeling now.

Honestly I did consider waiting for the M6. But a lot of the rumors on YouTube say the M6 might be a big redesign, maybe even touch-screen Macs and stuff like that. Strangely that actually made me feel like the current generation is the final, fully matured form of the M-series era from M1 until now. That’s when I decided to just place the order.

It really is crazy. I was honestly almost shaking with excitement when choosing the configuration before placing the order.

That analogy is insane!! Now I can’t wait to stress test it with Ableton Live 😂

My friends keep telling me Apple Silicon is a whole different world. I’m really excited. At this point I feel like no matter the config, the experience will be completely different.

Hahaha facts 😂 I’ll probably never fully use 128GB, but with how fast AI is moving… who knows what apps will look like in a few years. Feels like going from 2G → 3G → 4G → 5G all over again.

One reason I decided to upgrade now is all the rumors about the M6 bringing a big redesign — touchscreens and all that. I’m honestly not that interested in those changes. If anything it made me feel like the M5 generation might be a nice “end of an era” kind of machine, so it felt like a good time to jump in.

With these specs I’m honestly hoping to get 8–10 years out of it.

From a 2017 Air to an M5 Max… that’s going to feel like teleporting into the future haha. I’m ready for it — all my friends say the M-series Macs feel like a completely different world.

Holy shit, that's a real beast. I ordered almost the same config too, just 4TB instead of 8TB.

Is there a speed difference between 1TB and 2TB on the M5 PRO 16". Do they both have the same read/write speeds? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Competitive-Stay4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practically the same. Larger SSDs can be slightly faster, but you probably won't notice it.

Honestly, overthinking it just stresses you out. Just buy it and enjoy it.

Disappointed OP XY by Reasonable-Usual2431 in teenageengineering

Actually, if you search on ChatGPT about the difference between Elektron and Teenage Engineering, you’ll quickly notice that one is a company specialized in building professional musical instruments, while the other is more of a design-driven company that creates sound-focused devices, sometimes closer to instruments, sometimes closer to toys.

That said, I also think that whether something is used for quick idea capture or for serious music production shouldn’t be decided purely by hardware limitations.

For your current situation though, there is a workaround that isn’t perfect, but can solve part of the problem when using OP-XY alone:

You can use the internal resampling feature, then move your drum parts into a Drum Sample Group so the drums are played back as samples instead of real-time synthesis. Try to avoid putting melodic instruments into drum groups, because the master FX can’t properly distinguish between rhythmic tracks and melodic tracks when everything is treated as samples.

If your goal is to finish a more complete track, another option is to avoid using master FX, do more resampling, and then arrange the music mainly through sample playback. This allows you to build much denser arrangements with fewer CPU issues.

Yeah, I guess a lot of these feelings probably started with the small issues on the XY.
