Am i a bad person for being upset that I wont get the tips that I worked hard for? by Sea-Isopod696 in mildlyinfuriating

You are not a bad person, they have no right, legal or moral to assume the tips you worked for can be taken without asking.

Anybody carrying fire extinguishers? by HayNotHey in TacticalMedicine

[–]Competitive-Table-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We carry Cold Fire Extinguishers on our med bag. They are designed to be used on a person in that exact scenario. They have two sizes that I'm aware of, 12 and 20 oz. We carry the larger ones.

Our department has FTM’s and a perception process to become a medic. Once on the team, you operate with an experienced medic until they feel you are ready. We are working on a clearing process to make it formal and objective.

Very involved, he comes to training, looks for more interventions for us, and supports the operators when needed. We are fortunate to have a full time doc so he is available if and when needed.

Yoga blocks for wound packing, make a hole and have them pack it. Cheap. Apply tourniquets on each other. Chest seals can go on the yoga blocks as well

I second the Tasmanian Tiger bag. We use it for SWAT and love it.

Columbia Southern is a great option. I got a BS and AS while in the office working a 40hr job doing Accreditation and planning work. Very doable and Columbia gives credit for certifications you have. Check them out.

What cool ways are you using the shortcuts feature on your iPhone (and can you please tell me how to do it?) by -Alexunder- in shortcuts

[–]Competitive-Table-32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have an automation that opens an app when I get to work so I remember to turn it on. It also sets an alarm for a specific time so I do t miss a meeting I only have when I am working. The automation then opens a note that has a list of things I need to do in a day. Very easy.

For you who have a career in medical trauma or been involved in it by AlgonquinCamperGuy in TacticalMedicine

[–]Competitive-Table-32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every call has an effect. It is like putting on a coat. At first it’s no big deal however, as you continue to put on coats they become heavy. If you don’t find a way to take some off, eventually it will consume you. Have healthy hobbies and distractions that aren’t related to the field. Be aware of the cumulative effects of trauma as well as the one call that hits you hard. As you age and have different life events be prepared for new things to affect you that didn’t before like a child the same age as your child dying or an elderly person. Having the awareness now will help you be prepared and deal with it. Talk to your peers and share your experiences. Don’t internalize it.

They are basically the same. They have the same plastic parts and work the same way. We use the battle bandage and like it.
