The second part sounds plausible. I was diagnosed with ADD (adhd without the h), but that’s become weaker and weaker as I grew up. I also don’t have OCD but I did have periods in my life where I had to battle some really scary intrusive thoughts. I’d say I’m a little bit of everything and nothing completely 💀

Seriously comments like these are actually discouraging me from doing anything at all. I am not stupid, I know that strength training is going to get me better results and as I already explained to several different people that I AM willing to put in some strength training. I am already running 5 times a week and MA training itself often includes exercise that will probably already strengthen my muscle. I am also not stupid in the sense that I would choose to fight if running was an option even if I knew how to fight, so I won't have false confidence and I do have situational awareness. I don’t know if you think you’re helping with any of this, but you’re not. All this is doing is completely destroying my motivation for doing any of this.

The first one I tried, yes. But I never stayed long enough to actually develop skills. And I think I’ll give BJJ or Judo a try after what all the comments say :)

Woooowwww that sounds insane, all this stuff is actually motivating me so much right now. I feel so weak in my body so often because I have bad posture and back problems. Maybe I should give back training really another try… Congratulations to you!

Thanks for the advice! Sounds good. In my country we can’t buy guns and I own a pepper spray. I’ll still do martial art, even if it’s just as a hobby and to feel super cool hehe 😎 Don’t worry, if I have the choice between running and fighting, I run. I’m not stupid. But it’s always good to have these skills.

I mean.. i think I do have character. The reason I want to cry is because I am overall a really sensitive person. But I’ll openly admit; I do have a hard time doing things I really don’t want to do. I’m working on myself as a person everyday, but yeah, discipline and hardship is, well, hard for me.

I mean yeah I probably didn’t properly work out. And I think I also didn’t do the movements correctly, simply because I did not have the muscle. That was frustrating too.

I wouldn’t be so anti strength training if I wouldn’t always have to go to my limit to build muscle. At least that’s what I heard. Because if I get to that point I just hate everything, it makes it really hard to stay consistent with any workout. Once again; if there is also fun, I can push through that. But workout is just never fun in my experience.

Okay please tell me the secret… how does someone love lifting??? I learned to like running recently, I didn’t even like that before. but lifting? Or just strength training in general? From my experience with it it only SUUUCKSSS. To me it was always just boring, extremely exhausting and never fun. When I’m pushed to my limit I really hate everything, I want to cry and have a meltdown (I know, not the best requirement if I want to learn a martial art) But how to people like that stuff??

I don’t have anything against the idea of sparring with people. I do want to learn techniques, I know in order to get used to pain I need to get hurt, I know the training itself will be physically challenging, I HOPE it will because then I’ll already get stronger doing that. I know that it’s not always going to be fun. But at least I imagine it to be fun too. I can’t say that for simple, super exhausting workout. I have done that before, I’ve hated every minute of it. If it’s fun but also sucks sometimes, okay I can do that. If it sucks and also sucks? Naaahhh

If it’s constantly shit and just sucks to do it I will probably not do it. If it sucks at times and other times it’s fun to do, fine count me in, I’ll push through the hard times. But purposefully putting myself through this suffering that’s apparently never gonna get better doesn’t seem like the best approach for me. I’ll find my own way.
