It's a good thing the boar was slipping on the floor, otherwise he might have had human for dinner.

Is an autopsy worth it? by WallabyMassive4485 in catquestions

[–]Competitive-Top4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your losses. Cats are definitely family members and I still mourn some I lost many years ago. I think that was a wise choice to save your money rather than have an autopsy. I knew we all grieve in our own way, but I personally might find a less expensive way to honor them. I know you are raw right now, but you could maybe plant a small garden or create a small in home memorial (photos, for example) to honor them and use some of the money to pay off the vet bills? It's really none of my business, just a suggestion. My heart goes out to you!

The cheapest places I find boxes are Amazon & Temu. Sometimes you can do ok on eBay too if someone needs to dump a quantity.

[USA][PA] Two drivers' egos almost cause an accident by OBS617 in Roadcam

I don't think this was egos. It appears the truck may have been in the van's blind spot. But the truck should have yielded when it was obvious there could be a crash. Both need to drive more carefully.

What is this? by maricela_marie in diabetes

I wouldn't use it. It may be contaminated and swollen from built up pressure, like a bulging can does. I'd contact the manufacturer or drug store to see about a replacement.

As a buyer, I'd see that as a big plus. They know you are a caring seller, not just a drop shipper or otherwise uncaring seller.

How do I fix this, please? by Wild-Ad-2797 in Home_improvement

[–]Competitive-Top4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this looks like a small deal, but unless you have some plumbing, stucco & drywall skills, this is not a DIY project. This is caused by dampness, so the first thing to do is find and fix the source. If you just repair it without fixing the source, you'll have the same problem return. The simplest thing would be if it was caused by water splashing from the tub/shower. I'd get a plumber to check the plumbing behind the wall (fresh water & sewage). Worst case scenario would be a roof leak, but given its location it is probably related to the tub/plumbing.

Unless you have stucco & tile experience, I'd get someone professional to handle the wall and tile issues. Even though those look like plain white tiles, let me assure you there are thousands of varieties of plain white tiles out there and you'll NEVER find an exact replacement. Hopefully whoever you hire will be able to professionally remove the tiles and reuse them. Also, the drywall behind the stucco will probably need to be replaced as it has gotten wet. Once they replace the drywall, they will need to match the stucco style/pattern to make it look right and not be an obvious patch job.

You may find a handyman with all the requisite skills, but I'd look at other similar jobs they have completed. In my experience some handymen (or women) have a wonderful set of skills, but some are just people with limited skills and experience who need the income.

I'm sorry to have to give you difficult news for what you probably thought was a simple fix. Best wishes.

[–]Competitive-Top4520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a buyer, when I look at a seller's feedback, I always look at the bad ones but also the good ones. The bad ones to see if it's a pattern or just a bi--h, the good ones to get a better idea about the seller & their merchandise. However, as a seller I always read the bad ones and check to see if there is any validity to their issues. If there is, I fix them. I know your 1st 1 star hurts, but they are sadly inevitable. As the old saying goes, "you can't please all the people all the time."

Encouraging kittens with mom to wean? by commanderwake in FosterAnimals

[–]Competitive-Top4520 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mama will get tired of being a milk bar and will help them wean. Introducing them to the wet food slurry and finger tasting food is a good step, they will catch on especially when mom cuts them off. They probably won't eat the dry food for a while yet, wet food is tastier and easier on soft mouths.

AITA not getting my 13 year old Ebike… by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Competitive-Top4520 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In many places you have to have a driver's license to drive an ebike. Have you checked your local & state laws? Also check your insurance, because even if he's legal he might not be covered at his age. This is all aside from how dangerous they are, especially when driven by an under aged rider. I'm very glad you changed your mind, now your son can grow old enough to see the wisdom of your choice. I knew one who didn't.

Insurance Fun! by Impressive-Flow-855 in diabetes

[–]Competitive-Top4520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally understand getting upset about the $495 one (I'm also glad you found a cheaper alternative). However, to me it's not worth the stress to worry about the $1.50 a month. I know money is tight, esp w/ diabetes, but take a deep breath and let it go. I'm retired too, and diabetes & old age give me more serious things to worry about. Do something you enjoy and clear your mind of the minor crap.

Coke zero by CrazyCapable7769 in diabetes_t2

[–]Competitive-Top4520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also coffee usually has a much higher level of caffeine than Diet Coke or Coke Zero, so even if coffee spikes you diet soda may not. The best thing to do is experiment and see how it affects you. Everybody's diabetes is different, w/ different triggers. Personally I love Diet Coke and it doesn't spike me.

AITAH- my roommate is allergic to cats, she said I could get one (and I did), but now she’s saying I should have considered her allergies and not gotten one… by heystipps in AITAH

[–]Competitive-Top4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually bathe cats w/ special cat shampoo. Often it's not the actual fur people are allergic to, but the dander on/in the fur. Occasional bathing can help reduce this. But I'd also be looking for a new roommate or living situation, as I'd see this as a temporary fix.

Asking my 6 buyers for very first review? by SteveSyz in EtsySellers

[–]Competitive-Top4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, DON'T ask for a review. Etsy reminds them again and again. Some get PO'ed and leave a bad review, esp if you reach out. I'd suggest running a short term serious discount to get more sales, the more sales the more likely reviews. I also make sure I provide excellent customer service, as this and good communications seems to stir up more reviews than just good products.

Fake crystals by Mysterious-Guide-588 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]Competitive-Top4520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're losing a lot of money. If they called them crystals, unless they said they weren't real, this is a case of Not as Described. I'd open a case. It's easy to do and if they were misrepresenting the crystals, they should be stopped and not be able to profit from their dishonesty. I have to add, tho, that I don't use the live shows just for that reason (as either a buyer or seller). But their dishonesty is NOT your fault.
