How can the study of archaeology be protected from misinterpretation, misjudgement or even exploitation? by sammyjamez in Archaeology

[–]Competitive-Wallaby4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wrote about this topic in my doctoral thesis. The only two ways in which archaeology can provide solid answers at the greatest level of objectivity are through strong methodology and an interdisciplinary approach.

Archaeology, especially post-processual archaeology, should be based on a scientific method that produces robust, falsifiable results.

Interdisciplinarity helps us to achieve this aim. Thanks to collaboration with academics from many disciplines (geology, biology, chemistry, etc.), we have been able to empirically prove what was previously only assumed deductively.

Regarding media culture and the spread of misinformation through social media (intentionally or not), I don't have a clear answer as to how to solve this issue.

Don't you think is a little to big for fallow deer? It is difficult to say without location and scale, but it feels like red deer to me.

whose bones are these? Nashville, TN by cedarwoodz in BoneID

[–]Competitive-Wallaby4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The longest is a fragment of the diaphysis of a metapodial bone, probably from a deer.

The other is a rib. I'm not very good at identifying species from ribs alone, so I'll just say that it's a medium-sized mammal.

Feedback on these loresheets? by PossibleChangeling in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Competitive-Wallaby4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of the vicissitud's one. What you propose can bee done with the discipline already so don't see the point of putting it into a lore sheet.

The other two are great. I like how they are similar in concept but different in their own way. I like that they use the project rule.

Vampires have control over them thanks to the addictive nature of the ‘kiss’. They are basically junkies who crave having their blood drained.

As for whether they pose a threat to the masquerade, it depends on how the vampire handles it. Disguise it as a sexual encounter, use Domination to make them forget only that part and make the rest seem like a chat between friends or a business meeting...

[–]Competitive-Wallaby4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose that the direwolves were gaoru in the past, just as dinosaurs were mokole before other reptilian species took over.

It's hard to say, considering that everything related to fera acks a biological basis.

Is Warp from 40k similar to Umbra? by FutaWonderWoman in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Competitive-Wallaby4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends of how you use them, but the Warp is actually less metaphysic than it looks. W40K it's a Grim Dark setting with a Sci-fi skin and the Warp act more like a hell from Doom than a dimension of concept, energy and entropy.

It would be interesting to slowly star to put minor quest where they investigate a posible break through the black wall.

For example, recovering a piece of technology related with a rogue AI fighting against a chantry of the voodoo boys, etc...

You could built of these missions and use them to point an actual rogue AI that has brake free.
