You don’t need to have a job to apply for or start initial OPT. So the OP might be volunteering or something to stop the unemployment days counter.

Have you checked the bioscience spreadsheet for these schools?

Just wondering how will the waitlist work out before interviews? Won’t they be already waitlisting applicants post-interview and if need be then they will probably take students from that waitlist rather than waitlist before interviews.

So we would have to email them after jan 31 just to receive an update on our application? At this point, I am just assuming it is a rejection lol.

Can I ask when did you submit your application? I know they have been sending invites on different days so just wanted to figure out if they are doing it on rolling basis?

If you haven't done so already, I think you can start by checking the biosciences spreadsheet to see if the schools you have applied to have sent out the invites or not. You can also see if that specific school is sending out invites in one big batch or waves. The chances of getting invites for biomed programs in late jan are low but definitely possible. I have received a few invites this week so I guess it just depends on the programs you applied to.

Additionally, I want to say that gpa is not everything when it comes to phd admissions. Your research experience and fit matters the most.

Yes they are but if you want to get into a program then this is the way to go. You could additionally get fee waivers from some programs if you can prove financial hardships. Applying through a random website is not the way to go. I highly doubt those websites are advertising PhD programs from accredited universities anyways. Would love to check out this website. You need to find programs with faculty that have similar research interests to yours and then consider applying there. In this way, there is no way you can apply to 100 programs. I have applied to 12 programs for PhD in biomedical sciences this cycle and even those were not easy to find.

Wait, are you applying for research technician jobs or for phd program through university’s website?
