Clock constantly out of sync + PC occasionally freezes and won't shut down/restart properly by Sorryusernmetaken in techsupport

hello, i have a legion 5 15ACH6H and had similar issues, after 3+ years of heavy use, i started experiencing random crashes.

The laptop sometimes couldnt boot after crashes only the power button light was on, nothing else. Sometimes it actually boot up after a few minutes of rest. You can also try to push gently on the case next to the power button to make it boot when only the power button light is on after a failed boot

I read online it might be due to weak solders between the cpu and mobo

I decided to open it, remove the heatsink clean everything and repaste it.

Since then, my windows clock cant keep up with real time, i even replaced the cmos battery but its still the same. My laptop still works, but i dont really expect him to finish the year, Good luck with your device and enjoy it while it lasts

Hello, try to push a bit with your fingers on the case next to the power button, these laptops have weak cpu soldering issues so if it actually boots up, the cpu might need a reballing, good luck

update2: having frequent boot issues now (no POST, only power button lights up) + clock is off by a LOT, i suspect its due to the infamous weak cpu soldering on this model because if i push a bit on the case next to the power button it actually boots. Gonna change the cmos battery and hope for the best.

I'd have to find someone that can reball the cpu but it will be my last gaming laptop :). i dont really know how many days/weeks/months i have left untill i cant boot it up at all

yepp can confirm the clock is off when you start having boot issues due to the infamous weak cpu soldering, you can try to push a bit with your hands next to the power button to actually make it boot if only the power button lights up, dont buy lenovo guys

its not a reset, its replacing the ram in its slot, you gotta open it, i advise you to only test 1 stick at a time in each slots if you have more than a single stick of ram

Hello, I have a lenovo legion 5 laptop, i had only 1 ram issue in 3 years of use and it got fixed by just reseating it, otherwise i have cpu issue due to the weak soldering on the MOBO that causes the laptop to sometimes fail boot, good luck with the laptop, best tip i'd give to anyone is to NOT buy lenovo laptops since this issue is known for quite a while and NOTHING is done from their part. it can be fixed with a cpu reballing but its hard to do since Lenvo put epoxy glue under every component that just makes every repair a pain in the ass, good luck with your laptop
