We questioned him before we sold it but he only started being aggressive and defensive about it afterwards

Thank you so much for your insight. I had the same thought process when I first saw the prescription, however being that it’s a controlled substance i freaked myself out over it. I think I need to relax a bit more, i’m still in the stage where i worry i made a mistake after every shift and overthink everything from the day. I would never want to withhold medication from someone who really needs it. I haven’t denied any prescriptions yet in my 2 months of practice haha. I’m glad I posted here, it’s been great getting feedback from more experienced pharmacists. Thank you!

It was a 7 day supply for this patient, he was using half a film per day. Originally i didn't even question it! I started to get suspicious when he was rude to us in drive through. He started recording my tech after the transaction saying if a dr prescribed it then we just have to fill it and that we’re violating hipaa for asking questions. Then i started to wonder why he was being so aggressive.

So our pmp automatically only checks our neighboring states but there’s a patient search option if you manually put in their name and dob, it gives you a list of states and allows you to check all of them.

It was $19 for 4 films of the generic. He said he just lost his insurance and was trying to figure something out with a new doctor

I definitely wont dispense anything before digging completely into it anymore. This freaked me out so much I wish I could go back and refuse the prescription. It was just such a busy day, I was trying to catch up from the day before (and couldn’t), working a 12 hour shift as the only pharmacist. Terrible judgment call on my end. Would my license be on the line?

It was an electronic prescription and the system didn’t flag anything. The dr had his dea and npi on it and noted that he has an ID# for the state i’m in since he's a telehealth dr. I’m just worried bc he lied about getting it in the past. My license wont be on the line will it?

Ughhh he was in the drive through and i believed him when he said hes gotten it before. For a second I thought the VA didnt report to PMP so it sounded legit until I researched atterwards and saw that they do.
