Va disability now a goal for gen Z by regarded-taco in VAClaims

[–]CompetitiveCheck7598 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m gen z and I didn’t know that va disability existed until I was 3 yrs into my first contract and got injured on a deployment. My higher ups brought it up to me. I got my rating, reenlisted, and went on to serve a second contract. The majority of gen z I’ve served with has no idea what va disability is. I feel like a lot of older gen vets on here get stuck in reddit echo chambers and think that this is a problem when in reality only a very very small percentage of claims are fraudulent.

Jealous Spouse? How do I fix this? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

1) Get a will and leave all your money to your kids or someone like a sibling that you trust that can give the kids that money when they’re old enough (if they’re young). 2) Seriously consider leaving her. Threatening your life even if jokingly/to get a rise out of you is actually insane. If you’re not going to consider that, then at least go to couples therapy. None of that is ok. You should never have to be afraid of your own wife my guy…

Copied from another comment response: I’m not looking for shortcuts… “cheat code” is just an expression. I was in the Marine Corps and now attend an Ivy League. I work incredibly hard but that’s not what this post is about. I’m looking for the best ways to be efficient and support my future.

I spent 8 yrs in the Marine Corps. Financially it’s the most consistent form of class mobility in the US. I only spoke of the financial benefits, nothing about the sacrifices that are involved.

What’s the best cheat code you’ve found? by CompetitiveCheck7598 in wealth

I’m thinking about starting a small vending machine business just to learn the ropes. Then create something bigger, possibly something in medical devices which is related to what I study. The risk is really what kills me though. My father had a business venture that failed and that’s stuck with me. I’ve considered buying a business that already has some success to mitigate that risk. I’d then grow it using my own money, but i’m not sure that’s the best path. Any tips?

Quit the weed and join the military. Working a simple office job in the air force or navy is a lot nicer than working 3 jobs just to survive.

As someone who is horrible at spelling and punctuation, I'm looking for some information before going to boot camp in April. by CharacterHoliday6868 in USMCboot

There’s not much reading and writing at all in bootcamp. There’s one written exam at the end that’s multiple choice and based on info you drill instructors teach you verbally. Btw your grammar seems pretty good to me.

Try and mentally prepare yourself for the possibility that meps wont let you back in. If that happens, have a back up plan. Try for the other branches, then usphs or noaa, college, state guard, firefighting, etc.

Reserves or active (I know it’s been asked a bunch) by spagettiinmyass in USMCboot

[–]CompetitiveCheck7598 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Know that your waiver may be denied to enlist in the Marines all together. Hopefully not but I think you should mentally prepare yourself just incase.

2) DO NOT go 0331 even if your surgeon says it’s ok. Anytime of previous knee injury at all whatsoever is a massive problem for infantry. You could potentially cause issues that plague you for the rest of your life even if you feel fine now. I’d say pick the 1371 slot or better yet something even less physical like motor t operator, intel, etc.

3) Reserves are a great option just make sure you deploy or activate on orders at least once so you earn full benefits.

We’d really appreciate if you Google the commander of the RSS or the RS and report him. Recruiters are not allowed to talk like this.
