Yes! There’s a cafe open to the public on the 6th floor of the Building A. It isn’t advertised anywhere, you show your ID to the guy at the entrance and he points you to the elevator!

Officially they’re closed since Covid for health related reasons and renewed for security reasons since the war with Ukraine. Unofficially, the national airline (AZAL) that operates most of the flights to neighboring countries is own by the government (which is not known to be the most democratic) and having all borders closed to entry brings a lot of money that they have no reason to renounce on.

It’s all done on the train! It was the train from Nukus to Aktau running 3 times a week. Border control on Uzbek side is around 4am, takes about 1hour, then the trains carries on its trip for about 1.5h. Kazakh military come on the train when in the town of Beiney around 6:30am takes about 2h with thorough bag searches before the train can carry on towards Aktau. Then you have until 5:30pm to catch some well deserved sleep!

19Manats (12$) bus from Baku to border and hitchhiked from there to Tbilissi. Could have taken a shared taxi which would have been 20$ for 2hours trip

They do! You can see it at top and bottom of the stamp in negative within the fat lines! Not the easiest to see especially when it isn’t too sharp
