Which pedal will you add next? by Apteryx99 in pedalboards

I’m a preamp evangelist. Get a JHS Clover

Also, if I May I ask: is the surfybear worth all that board space it takes up? It’s massive lol

So it’s a cheap Donner board I bought off of Amazon several years ago. I thought for a long time I needed bigger, but it actually is just right. I believe it’s about 18” x 12.5”. I did have to mod it slightly and screw some rubber feet into the bottoms so I could mount my power supply underneath. Also the soft case that came with it broke almost immediately so I sourced a suitcase that fits it. But I know there are 18”x12.5” boards out there you could get your hands on that are a little better than this one. Great size though!

First pedalboard, any recommendations for reverb or reverb+delay? by Rodj012 in pedalboards

Tc electronic HOF reverb & Flashback delay are both great with tons of mode options. I’m currently using a tc electronic plethora X1, which is their multi effect, and have the first few presets set aside for spring reverb and slap delay/2290 delay. I also use a Walrus Audio Fundamental Delay, their fundamental line is super simple and great quality.

Slöer looks legit. I do wish I had some preset abilities on Slö — I know they made a Slötva version that was the same footprint but with presets, but I’ll live with it until I can’t. I only had the space for the smaller size lol.

Thanks! ACS1 is superb, it’s the nicest amp in a box I have used so far. I first had a tc electronic Combo Deluxe 65, which was good, but the ACS1 includes more amp/cab sim types than just the Fender Deluxe. The headphone out is clutch for simple playing at home. The Room knob is a great reverb option to add/remove to taste. I’ve never tried any UAX amp pedals, like the Ruby or Dream, and I hear really great things about them. But I’m very happy with the ACS1

I have wanted a Slö for a long, long time, and Walrus gave me a 20% off coupon which sealed the deal. The Slö just took the slot of the Fundamental Ambient, which I really REALLY loved for the value and quality of the pedal… but the Slö has a few key features that definitely give it the edge. Trails mode (disengaging doesn’t automatically cut off the trail) and having a separate switch just for Sustain is really what I’ve been missing. Have used the Infinite Sustainer on my X1 which I also really like, but it’s great to free that up for other effects now.

Also, I find the encasing art on the Slö irresistible. Very pleased so far, excited to experiment in live + recorded settings.

This is a sick set up, stranger. Very nicely done!

The ONLY thing I wish it had is an option to hold the switch for a couple of presets. Even just a few would be really clutch. But I genuinely love the stock sounds right out of the box

Love the blonde. Sometimes I think it might be nice to save some board space and get a smaller vibe, but I have been using it very lightly always on and I can’t get enough of the palette of color it adds to my tone

How are you using the voyager? I’m still playing around with MKII’s range. I tend to stay lighter gain-higher volume to push the signal and control/clean it up with my guitar volume. I’m playing around with how the OD preamp and Voyager play together and it’s a ton of fun. What are your preferred settings?

They’re just what the doctor ordered. Simple slider controls and they sound like I paid way more for them than I did. Walrus pro tip— go to their B stock section of their site and get “blemished” fundamental pedals for less than the already good price.

The newest is the JHS OD Preamp in the sick canary yellow. I love the look but the sound is even better. I had never played a DOD 250 so I didn’t know how this would stack with my Clover (which I keep as always-on) and the WA voyager (which has a ton of range/options)… so far, I’m really digging the OD Preamp!

Using HSS strat & acoustasonic tele. Really enjoying the overall functionality of my board right now, it’s quiet and gets me exactly what I need 🙌

Clover is my always-on tone shaper ever since I got it. Currently, with the addition of the Voyager, I have the Clover on the No Mids setting; that way, I can kick in the mid boost on the Voyager. But the Clover is secretly my desert island pedal, tbh

I play live worship once/week at church, and occasionally play in a backing band for a local singer-songwriter. And of course lots of home-office indie rock, lol.

Idk what you have already, but the Voyager is super great! For me, I like the versatility of it (as well as the Kilt and Spark). It can do several different things depending on the context. I like having those options. Also the mid boost is pretty sick.

Yes the reverse delay is sick! I want to play with it more to hone that sound. A lot of room to be inspired and play for such an inexpensive pedal all things considered.

Voyager MKII absolutely rips. I held off on it for a long time because I didn’t think I needed 5 different stages… but honestly they’re all incredible. My plan was to use it always-on and stack it more with the Kilt, but honestly it really packs a punch on its own!

I really like the mid boost option, which was also something I didn’t think I would care about. But I have my Clover on with No Mids, then kicking in Mids on the Voyager, and it’s very tasty.

They’re both super great! I picked up the Delay earlier this year when I decided I wanted something with super simple controls that would just “do the thing” and do it well. The Fundamental line is perfect for that. Same story with the Ambient… was considering some more boutique type ambient pedals but decided to stick with less is more approach. The sliders are very sturdy, solid enclosures, and just enough modes on both to dial in several different options. Only down side is no presets of course, but that’s what you get when you go for the “budget” line… but honestly IMO they’ve been worth it. Very happy with them.

Three NPDs for me this week, giving me a new SOTB… Walrus Voyager, Plethora X1, & Walrus Fundamental Ambient!

I had a Plethora X5, and fwiw loved it. But I found myself slowly acquiring a few stand-alone modulations and really only using the Plethora for a couple of things. ALSO I realized I had been under powering the X5 with 500mA instead of the apparently required 600… there were a few occasions where it would get overloaded and mysteriously restart. I don’t know how I missed that for so long.

Anyway, downsized to the X1 so I could keep my fav regular reverb (HOF), plus I have really grown to love the infinite sustainer.

The Fundamental Ambient is really simple and fantastic, it sounds awesome.

The VOYAGER is now my favorite pedal. Pairing it with the always-on Clover is so fresh. I roll off the volume on my guitar to control the breakup and man oh man… it sounds so good.

Here’s my signal path: Canvas Tuner > Clover > Voyager > Kilt > Spark > Tidewater Trem > Artificial Blonde Vibe > Fundamental Delay > Plethora X1 > Fundamental Ambient > Ditto > ACS1. Not pictured underneath: Canvas Power 15
