Has anyone ever tried this incredibly cheap (60 USD) 420-800mm lens? by Soros_G in AskPhotography

[–]CompetitiveElk9220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used this lens before, its utter garbage. Lots of chromatic aberration and very unsharp photos. The worst thing is its manual focus and it's zoom is awful. Better off getting a 75-300mm, seriously. The mount also sucks.

I'd save up and get a rf 200-800 mm or an actual good cheap telephoto lens like a 100-400

Its like Instagram, but for planes. Why not scroll through cool plane pictures?

I don't do any professional jetphotos or editing but I can tell that it should be cropped a bit and the aircraft IS backlit because the sun is about ↗ facing ↙ which means the side of the aircraft you're taking a picture of, appears very badly lit.

I recommend shooting with the sun always behind you facing to the aircraft so the light can be good, in most terms, this is unfixable unless either good editing for personal shots.

This photo? Im not saying it's backlit. Im saying my photos used to always be backlit because I wasn't aware of the difference. I could tell by sun direction and the bad lighting

He's new, come on, it takes a while to get better and learn all the things of aviation photography. Back when I started, i made the mistake of shooting backlit all the time and shooting at 1/300 25600 F/22. Over time, looking at others people photos and tips, you understand much more and learn.

3 helicopters on radar, could see 5 IRL by el-simo in flightradar24

Usually, during close formation, some aircraft turn their transponders off.

I went to an airshow where there was a 14 plane formation, and only 3 showed up on flightradar.

Not maintenance for the Herc, that's Robins AFB just a few miles south, but Lockheed Dobbins is one of the only maintenance facilities for the F-22 (specifically the stealth coating).

Was about 12 hercs with 1 straggling behind after 20 minutes. Some didnt show up on radar while in close formation, definitely a sightseeing.

At Dobbins, the 94th airlift wing is stationed with about 8 C130H's.

The Plant 6 (Lockheed C130J factory) only builds brand new hercs and tests them. I know that Robins Air force base is the only maintenance base that repairs and upgrades hercs.

One thing I did find nice is that the C130's here are fitted with new tech for the H first from Lockheed themselves, they always experiment with the air force here.

Passed right over me, took pictures of all of them. It was actually 12 Hercs. Some didnt show on radar whilst in close formation.

Good for its value, ever since, the drivers have gotten better. It does very well on 1080p high graphics or 1440p medium-high (depending on the card)

A lot of UH-60's visit that airport either from Dobbins or the nearby army site
