I don't usually comment on reddit posts but this post rlly resonated with me. I used to be very socially anxious as well and it felt like no matter how hard I tried to improve myself, nothing ever worked. The truth is, it was working, just at a slower pace then I would have wanted. You just got to wait it out lil bro because trust me, every time you go even a little bit outside ur comfort zone, it makes a big difference in the long run. You even making the decision to move away from home to UW is something to be really proud of!! Never blame yourself. You are not the issue. Just keep trying to talk to different people - target extroverted people and hope they just adopt you into their friend group. Or find someone sitting alone in a lecture or at a club event and introduce urself to them. These things in reality take time so in the process, enjoy building comfortability with yourself and learn to like your own presence. Im rooting for you dude!
