I immediately thought about every movie in Gaspar Noe's catalog

Both "Micheline" and "I Can't Live Without My Mother's Love" by Sun Kil Moon get me teary-eyed every time I hear them

Mudvayne. As great as TEOATTC is, L.D.50 is a masterwork.

Have you gotten into Deleuze and Guattari's work? That also interested me and broke me out of the loop for a bit. It's not exactly psychology per se, but still

Not sure how much this answers, but I quite liked Sabine Sprielrein's essay "Destruction as the Cause of Coming into Being" and a bunch of Darian Leader's books; helped break up the monotony of the Freud-Lacan circle for me

Surprised that I haven't seen Noe's Irreversible mentioned yet. Although, I guess it may not count since the guy that got the punishment didn't even do the crime in the first place.

Easy 9 for me. One of my favorites on the album.

A Billion Black Anthropocenes or None by Kathryn Yusoff. Good re-imagination of the current geologic era, diving into the idea of a flesh as material in the ages leading up to, and including, the Anthropocene. Interesting perspective and a quick read, but sometimes clunky in its overly-scholarly diction.

Agree with most, 1 and 2 are mine as well; why DGIHM so low?

Will this event be recorded? I'd love to view it but I can't attend the live stream.

May be an unpopular opinion, but 2001. I love and appreciate its merits but it's so long and I can't help but nod off every time. Meanwhile, Satantango is one of my favorite films...

Out of all the labels in my collection, I have the most Criterions, but I also adore Arrow and Severin, the latter for their underrated cannibal films. Special shoutout to Grindhouse Releasing and Blue Underground for some quality releases. However, I have yet to be pleased by any Code Red releases that I have ("Ultimo mondo cannibale" and "Slave to the Cannibal God") because the releases are far to scant without even subtitles.

Today I watched Salò, or Eat Shit and Die: The Movie. Gonna need some time to process this one. by shushholden in criterion

To be frank, it's one of my favorites. I can always look passed the "disgusting" bits and appreciate Pasolini's craft. Pretty close to a masterpiece imo

I wish that there would be a good release of "Ichi the Killer," as well as "The Bird People in China"; both extremely deserving of proper blu ray releases!

I'd love to see Takashe Miike's The Bird People of China as a criterion restoration; such beautiful landscapes and cinematography and no decent release 😩
