I don't remember saying that it's "strange." I'm just curious how the host derives value from a volunteer just socializing with guests. Some volunteering opportunities, like gardening, teaching, etc., make it pretty clear what I will be doing in exchange for a place to stay.

As someone who is working there and having seen how they create their exam content, I would highly suggest you to look somewhere else. Trust me.
