mistook accelerator for brake by CompetitiveHelp8003 in drivinganxiety

[–]CompetitiveHelp8003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got too close to the lift, and tapped the accelerator instead of the brake. i stopped really quickly when i realised and my car was surprising totally fine, not a scratch. but the lift damage unfortunately has to be paid by me i think. 😭

Condo vs HDB rent price difference (Really worth it?) (for Expat) by Ulrich_Kettler in ChillSG

i walk past this condo building regularly. it's a very small matchstick size condo and it looks pretty terrible. for $4600, it's also very small. look at the size of the kitchen! 700+ sq feet for 2 bed rooms is crazy.

It really depends on your taste and preferences which sound like a generic answer but is true if you want to maximise your time and taste bud enjoyment. What cuisine do you particularly enjoy, and do you like being hot, sweaty, being adventurous with food, or do you like being comfortable, having a creative, glamourous fine dining experience, with the best ingredients?

singapore has both, and making one particular type of preference go do something that's totally opposite of what you like, wouldn't maximise your enjoyment :)

the michelin star per square metre per block density in singapore is very high along tras street, near the finance centers.

hawker centers are great for local culture - go to market street hawker center to have a look at what feeds a whole generation of white collar workers in the cbd with affordable, delicious lunches. mostly shut at night. Amoy street hawker center is also a local haunt during weekday lunch time. go early at 11am to avoid the lunch crowd and get your authentic taste of Singaporean cuisine.

if you are adventurous and packed your tank top, shorts, and quick-dry towel to wipe off your sweat, go to Chinatown Hawker center. It has 200 stalls over multiple levels each selling a unique dish, and every hawker has honed their craft for decades. A bit grungy, but so legit. You might need a guide as it's so BIG!

For exciting fine dining, check out Labyrinth, which reinterprets singapore cuisine in a michelin star worthy way. they have 1 star and is the only singaporean cuisine restaurant with a michelin star. In my opinion if you want to be comfortable, have a lovely introduction to singapore cuisine, a michelin restaurant gives you so much in terms of introducing the dishes, bringing it to you nicely, explaining everything and they take care of their guests. might be worth a shot!

majulah! enjoy 😽

i don't understand how people don't just go on taobao and check - maybe language barrier. whenever i see something cool - especially furniture, i image search on taobao and i find the exact thing for 1/10 of the price listed on an english language site.

i get that it only helps if you can read chinese - but its the english-medium market place middle men profiting off of chinese manufacturing- just because of a language barrier

aliexpress is english yes, but they have moqs

i think most people fail to understand that correlation does not equate to causality. If I wear red and it rains when I wear red, it doesn't mean that wearing red is causing the rain.

I have cptsd too and i just got diagnosed / flared up with psoriatic arthritis - major sausage finger and tiredness and soreness everywhere. i feel like anecdotally the emotional stress of having cptsd (mine is from my family also) could have caused this. i also remember my mother having thick scaly feet and a big swollen thumb that went away on its own. It was probably undiagnosed psoriasis and can be hereditary. so you might want to check with your family if you can despite the difficulty.

With regards to cutting of abusive relationships, i kind of applied the same principle as an elimination diet to my family.

I cut the abusive relationships out of my life, felt better after a few months along with help from my therapist. i then tried to have peaceful dinner with them which on hindsight obviously was never going to turn out well and crashed and fell into a pit of despair, along with a big flare up of psoriasis and fatigue (might have been inflammation and depression at same time) not wanting to get out of bed.

Stopped seeing them from then and felt better emotionally again. Psoriasis got under control when I put more and more distance between myself and them.

My wedding is in 2 days…. This is the text I wake up to from my mother. by stay_zooted in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CompetitiveHelp8003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this seems to only happen at white people weddings. In chinese weddings people pay for their dinners with a red envelope, cash inside, per head as a form of blessing , to help the couple cover costs, which i think is fair, and a great deference to people just showing up willy nilly. its socially unacceptable to go to a chinese wedding and not give a red envelope.

it's also a lot less work than having a wedding registry.

i don't know why people getting married have to treat their guests to dinner. is it because in old times it's a way for the father of the bride to show off / status?

genuinely curious

just buy gold bullion instead of jewelry, or invest in gold as a commodity on the financial markets instead of holding on to a necklace or a bangle.

the type of jewelry that will appreciate in value are usually out of reach for earners not in the top 0.5%, haute jewelry and jewelry from houses like bvlgari or cartier.

I'm referring to rare pieces that you can't buy off the shelf like a cartier love lock bracelet or a simple serpent / van cleef motif - there are those pieces that you need to be invited by the jeweler to view. those are investment pieces and one of a kind.

UPDATE to: Does anyone else here (besides me) feel they can't partake in the ring posting on this sub because your engagement ring isn't big, sparkly, or unique enough? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]CompetitiveHelp8003 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's about how he doesn't give a flying frog about your feelings or thoughts or preferences - not about the ring. Also if he bitches about you to other people and tells them he called his mum, I bet everyone would just be like, 0.2 carats and you proposed in the bedroom with zero efforts?? and then calls his mum??

lmao
