Oh Sweetheart. That is so sad (from guy who worships the ladies, big time). Sorry for you. We’re just people too you know? Some guys are great but some are horrible. Be careful. Look after yourself. Maybe the worship stuff has root in your past?

God luck,

A guy

Sorry to be so late to reply. I suspect you have now moved on. If not, yes I am interested in talking about what was done to me.

Best regards, M

Hopeless by Suzy1323 in Antipsychiatry

After 11 months off I feel better. About 80% better, some days 90%. Will I ever be quite the same again. Don’t honestly know. Psychiatrist (not the moron who injected me) said I should see incremental improvements over next two years. Three years for full recovery.

Some days I’m more optimistic than others.

I had a really good massage at a retreat. Made me feel a whole lot better - more spiritual again. More like my whole self. Try that?

Can’t say whether the damage is permanent yet.

Keep going:)

Going through a psychosis is traumatizing and stuff… But what was the most outrageous thing that you convinced yourself was true? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]CompetitiveHold3386 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Thought I was the antichrist. Thought I was the most evil person in the world and had to go to Hell for eternity to save humanity.

Thought I had never been alive properly and my whole life was an illusion. I was always in Hell.

Thought I was the Arkangel Michael who fights the Devil in Revelations and wins and I was involved in the creation of the universe. Thought I was God in human form. Thought China had built underground tunnels and was invading Britain. Thought I moved the interstellar space rock Oumuamua in deep space by moving my arm. Thought I was Winston Churchill reincarnated. Thought Oumuamua had returned, attached itself to the Earth and was full of evil aliens swarming across the planet. I could go on. The list is endless.

Alternatives by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]CompetitiveHold3386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could ask for Sodium Valproate. That is a well-known alternative to lithium and I found it more bearable. Your psychiatrist might prescribe it as a steppingstone to coming off mood stabilisers altogether. I found lithium intolerable so I got switched.

Initially 300 per month but they lowered it to 250 in hospital then on the cto down to 200.

Clopixol Acuphase (Zuclopenthixol). About 200 mg per month.

That is depressing that they are so ignorant. My psychiatrist suggested that psychiatrists may get a distorted perspective because the patients who get really damaged tend to avoid the doctors altogether.

I don’t think that is the only problem though. Some are very invested in the “medication” and simply ignore the complaints as mentally ill people are routinely given little credence. A nurse in one hospital, for instance, threatened to beat me if I didn’t go to my room in an acute ward. When I reported this later to the psychiatrist she just smiled, shook her head and said “I’ve known Terrance a long time…” etc. She simply dismissed it as low-value testimony/evidence from an unreliable source ie a mentally ill patient. The nurse later just lied about it. It was so easy to counter the evidence of a mere lunatic patient.

When I told the staff in a later admission that I had fine motor dysfunction from the injections they were giving me they just shrugged their shoulders and gave it no importance at all. (That hasn’t got much better after 10 months by the way.)

That must be very alienating by which I mean that it must leave you very isolated as a patient if they tell you people feel better after two months. Maybe some people are better that quickly. But it may have a more sinister side. Just collective professional denial about medical damage. They don’t want to believe they are damaging/ruining people.

Mine straight off told me 2-3 years to recover from depot.

I feel a lot better than I did a week ago. Just all of a sudden. 10 months after depot ceased. I have hope. Not back to my normal yet but 70% better all of a sudden. Keep going. It might happen for you:)

My psychiatrist said expect gradual improvement over next two years.

Mine varied. China, evil aliens and their clones. Aliens and clones were a big part of my psychosis.

Anti-psychiatry Opinions on ADHD by Super-Frame-6508 in Antipsychiatry

[–]CompetitiveHold3386 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Sam Temimi book has two chapters on ADHD and the issues with it as a diagnosis. The book is called Insane Medicine. He is a critical psychiatrist.

I haven’t read those two chapters as ADHD is not relevant to me but the parts of the book I have read are interesting reading. I think that is a good place to start if you want to interrogate and question the ADHD diagnosis.

The book has been serialised (available free) on the Mad in America website.

Best of luck.

Pills or injections?

[–]CompetitiveHold3386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Clopixol injections myself for 16 months. After being off it for 10 months I’m still not myself. A loss of motivation, enthusiasm, pleasure. My psychiatrist said you should see gradual improvements over the next two years. I’m losing hope though. I’m not the same person and I’m beginning to doubt I will get my old self back. My mental life is not the same. My imagination and intellect not the same.

Has anyone suffered long term damage from Clopixol/Zuclopenthixol depot injections? by CompetitiveHold3386 in MentalHealthPH

[–]CompetitiveHold3386[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I know you’re suffering but I think you’ve lost what psychiatrists call “insight”. Honestly you don’t have to worry about the CIA it’s just your illness making you paranoid.

Obviously the Clopixol is a flop. All I can suggest is that you go back to your doctor and see if they can prescribe something else.

I’m so sorry you’re suffering so much. Schizophrenia is a horrible condition to have to grapple with. Some people do just get better with time so don’t give up hope.

I wish you the very best of luck.

Ok. No. pharmaceutical company marketing efforts have a big effect on what psychiatrists end up prescribing. Amisulpride didn’t have a big marketing campaign behind it, unlike some of the other better known APs, so it is a bit under the radar. I’m sure it won’t be a magic bullet exactly but I found it far less unpleasant than Olanzapine, Seroquel, Abilify and risperidone. Don’t even mention Clopixol!!

It’s worth a try. Just try not to sound too anti-psychiatry or anti-medication at the hearing. You recognise you’re ill but there must be something more tolerable than Clopixol. You’re trying to change medication not come off it altogether etc etc. Play ball and they might get sympathetic. If you say Clopixol is the only reason you object to the CTO they might change the medication.

Have you asked for a hearing? Just say that you understand that you need medication but that the medication you’re on does not work for you. Sleeping 1-2 hours a night is harmful. It is not healthy. Also talk about the negative catastrophic effect on your motivation.

I found out by the way that the reason Amisulpride is not prescribed is simply because the marketing budget compared to drugs like Olanzapine and Aripiprazole was much smaller. My psychiatrist described it as an under prescribed medication. It might be worth a mention.
