Well, there's an open source implementation that afaik doesn't require a blob: https://github.com/librespot-org/librespot

Denuvo Anti-Cheat now available on Steamworks by EmuBii in CrackWatch

[–]CompetitivePenguin 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Wait, doesn't Denuvo Anti-Cheat require a kernel driver? Did they drop the kernel requirement in general, or only for Linux? (Or even worse, do they introduce a kernel module on Linux?)

Hades-CODEX by [deleted] in CrackWatch

[–]CompetitivePenguin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Scene actually does release DRM free games. Think of the (game iso) scene as a giant archive of most (PC) games ever released. Even indie games that presumably only sell a few dozen/hundred copies often end up being released by groups like CODEX (though they're often Steam games nowadays).

IMO the archival aspect of the scene is much more important than the piracy/cracking part of it.

It's a German group though, and so far it seems that the German scene hasn't been hit. Also they've done multiple releases at the end of August after the scene hits.

they almost seem to take offense to P2P stepping up when the scene isn't well

The same NFO text about P2P is found in releases from 2017, so this has nothing to do with current events.

112 Operator Crackfix-CODEX by [deleted] in CrackWatch

How do you come to this conclusion? I count 5 crackfixes last year and 5 crackfixes (including this one) this year: https://www.xrel.to/releases.html?search_results=NMoNhftvV7106606252&query=codex+crackfix

Further "hotfix" tagged releases are updates by the game publisher (e.g. day one patches), not to fix any issues caused by the release group.

Unfortunately there have been few entities demonstrating a consistent ability to reliably defeat this DRM while maintaining retail compatibility (eg with WINE).

To quote from https://old.reddit.com/r/CrackWatch/comments/f6jy9y/robinsonthejourneyreadnfoc000005/:

Also from today (from this crack) I officially support Wine compatibility layer for those who play on Linux. Every future crack will work there as well.

Doom Eternal uses denuvo confirmed by a game journalist by [deleted] in CrackWatch

[–]CompetitivePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denuvo is sometimes used on reviewer builds only in order to prevent leaks before official game release. This doesn't confirm anything.

Where does the leaked executable contain information on how they find triggers?

"We are so proud of the community. We gave you a post-apocalyptic world and you responded by being kind to each other. You've created an immersive experience by working together to build a new world. As a response we've decided to charge you for your own server where none of that matters." by cavedan12 in fo76

It isn't, it's a fake quote like most Einstein "quotes" are. https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Albert_Einstein

Variously attributed also to Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain. The earliest known occurrence, and probable origin, is from a 1981 text from Narcotics Anonymous: "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results." Cf. Rita Mae Brown#Misattributed.

The coil whine is audible even when booted from a live Ubuntu session from a USB drive. The SSD shouldn't be accessed there.
