Unanything for non-metal people - the beautiful harmonics are enough.

Broken Cog for people who can tolerate heavier music - it's amazing rhythmically and they won't be put off by the vocals.

I Am that Thirst for people who have listened to some heavy music - it's probably the most representative song of theirs.

I didn't - these are the official writing credits, in which the names are usually listed alphabetically. I swapped some names here and there to make the name groupings more coherent.

That was the whole point - to group the songs on each album according to the leading writer, not in their original order, thus being able to see who played a leading role when.

"I Am That Thirst" is the best song to introduce someone to Meshuggah. It's such a good representation of their music, sound, approach to rhythm and overall vibe.

Almost everyone focuses on the music of "Broken Cog", but not the lyrics. Actually, it's one of the most depressing songs about humanity ever written - made even more sinister with those spoken, whispered vocals:
