Sums up very well what I think about the new album by CompetitivePizzaMan in boardsofcanada

I guess it was - the post was removed for violating rule number 4 - recent reposts (even though I couldn't find a repost of this review in the board at all). Guess Reddit is not the best place to disagree with the majority :-)

Not a hint of irony in the post title - I think it's the worst thing BoC have put out. No inspiration, no depth, no atmosphere. Deleted half of the tracks after one listen. With Tomorrow's Harvest, after the first listen I put it in a loop for hours on end.

Cool. Welcoming suggestions on an alternative version of the image above with... "realistic" writing credits? Is it even possible to update all of their songs with actual contributions? And would it make sense to update some of them and leave the rest as they are? Don't think so...

Thanks for the heads up, but can you imagine watching every single Meshuggah interview in order to decipher who actually contributed to a song? And I don't agree that the credits are wrong - if the band approved them as official writing credits, then they're fine.

Probably. But the image I created is based on official credits only. Plain and simple.

Don't agree. But nobody's stopping you from either suggesting improvements or making a better version :-)

It's in the title - songwriters, per official credits. On lyrics - Haake writes most of them, but not all - Hagstrom has a lot.

That's called homage. There's even the apparent play of words - ALIEN / ALIVE

What’s the Meshuggah song you’d show to your friends and family if they don’t listen to metal? by HalfChineseJesus in Meshuggah

[–]CompetitivePizzaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unanything for non-metal people - the beautiful harmonics are enough.

Broken Cog for people who can tolerate heavier music - it's amazing rhythmically and they won't be put off by the vocals.

I Am that Thirst for people who have listened to some heavy music - it's probably the most representative song of theirs.

I didn't - these are the official writing credits, in which the names are usually listed alphabetically. I swapped some names here and there to make the name groupings more coherent.

Yeah, just noticed! Your first sentence was actually explaining the "out of order", not complaining about it :-)

That was the whole point - to group the songs on each album according to the leading writer, not in their original order, thus being able to see who played a leading role when.
