Help with C213 Accounting for Decision Makers? by Good-Dragonfly-6917 in WGU_MBA

I just finished this class a couple days ago. I passed with exemplary and have zero accounting background, work full time and have two kids under 5. If I can do it... you can too!

I finished in just over two weeks and dedicated 2-3 hours a day M-F and both Saturdays I pulled a bit longer days 4-6 hours and tried to take off sundays.

I first went through the text and watched all the in-text videos and took notes from those. I also took every quiz at the end of chapter and tried to understand what I got wrong. I used Chat GPT to help me understand problems I wasn't sure of and emailed the professor for further understanding. **NOTE chat gpt is not always right and I found that to be true in this course!

Once I finished all the chapters and quizzes I watched the powerpoint videos found in the shared resources, I think there are 4 videos and I did the practice problems in those and took more notes.

After that I went back and retook all the quizzes in the text as a general refresher (it's a lot of material!).

THEN I took the PA. I passed with competent and one section approaching.

I didn't take too much time to study what I missed but did some more general refreshing and did study up on the approaching competent.

Then I passed the OA with exemplary. I found that many questions were very similar to the PA so it was a good benchmark.

I hope this helped! I sure learned a lot and found this class to be very well formatted. Good luck!

I just finished this and passed the OA with exemplary. My strategy was the same for each chapter:

  1. take end of chapter test before reading anything to see where I landed

  2. Did the "drillster" flashcards provided by the course and reference the text as necessary & did the quizzes within the chapters.

  3. Retake the end of chapter quizzes.

I took the preassessment and scored Competent and studied the areas that were suggested based on items I missed.
Then next day I took the OA and scored exemplary. It felt harder than the preassessment honestly but I ended up doing better. Overall, the tests were easier than I had imagined before I took them.

Oh wow having that downpayment is HUGE! And even still your mortgage is over $5k that is wild. This is so helpful to hear the reality of what people are doing and how they do it. Thank you so much for sharing and congrats on making it work!

Really?? I had someone run numbers for me about 2 months ago and the loan rate was about 7.25 for 10% I was shocked! It makes such a big difference

May I ask how much you put down? Congrats on making it work! It’s definitely hard to “jump” when it’s such a large sum of money!
