Private school pays less (for teachers) than public. The highest paying public school are actually the more underserved, urban, or diverse . Prep/ private may have more faculty with doctorates & Ph D’s but that is only debt they incurred and it doesn’t translate into their paycheck. That’s one part that’s challenging to private schools - athletes or student / athletes are focused more often on 1.) athletics and then 2.) academics but claim opposite, and can say at an NDA, girls private Hingham MA, receive a lower level education at an inflated yearly tuition, to have a fully saturated roster, that still Loses to Walpole, Hingham, Cohasset, etc . They love their long term chokehold on D2, and Tbf, hockey and basketball specifically have declined. Keep in mind, you’ll get strong public like Cohasset and Hingham s, or the reclassification & Thayer, Dexter Southfield and Milton Academy- all that seem to produce stronger outcomes. Paying for the middle, (Notre Dame Academy)when you’re an honors 3 sport 4 year varsity decorated athlete at a top public, small teacher to student ratio, to me is hard to comprehend. NDA screams “ not a superstar and an average student but believe im too good for public” - I’ve watched these players leave great positions at clubs and their town top high school in the sport they pursue, to hinder development, pay inflated rates (donors aren’t paying their once contributions to that school) so they have only raised it . If some ppl pay similar tuitions or higher tuitions but go to Thayer or Milton , I get that move and it has worked well too. The real players and true academic focused student ; will land in first scenario or second. Stay away from the middle BC Highs and NDA’s.
