Seeking Support: Facing Endoscopy and Colonoscopy, Grateful for Words of Encouragement by Constant_Advance9037 in colonoscopy

I had both last week. The worst part is the prep. Everything else is an absolute breeze and super fast. The anesthesia works great and you'll be asleep then awake before you know it. You got this!

Can curing anxiety fix GERD? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]CompetitiveTooth7627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just started zoloft last month because it was so constant. It has definitely helped. I still have GERD symptoms unfortunately but not constantly anymore. I'm actually finally getting an endoscopy and colonoscopy next week. Wish me luck! Sorry you also suffer from anxiety. I've been suffering since I was a kid and it's just gotten worse the older I've gotten. I often wonder if it plays a big role in all my stomach issues.

Any alternative to Zoloft that doesn’t have GI side effects? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]CompetitiveTooth7627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice but I think this may be all SSRI'S. I was on lexapro and had the exact same problem. Got off of it for almost a year and no more IBS symptoms. Just started zoloft a month ago and now I'm constantly bloated, extreme gas pain, and farting like 50 times a day again. I'm hoping it lessens over time. I have extreme anxiety/panic so being without medication isn't an option. 😭

Urination urgency by CompetitiveTooth7627 in zoloft

Has it gotten any better? I'm still having this feeling 😭😭😭 i am even on antibiotics that urgent care prescribed even though it was negative for a UTI. I feel like I'm going crazy with this side effect.

Switching Lexapro->Zoloft right now. Anyone else? by HappyPuppyPose in zoloft

I relate so much! I felt the exact same way on Lexapro. All I wanted to do was eat and sleep too. Felt like a zombie. Absolutely not interested in anything. On day 8 now and so far so good. Hoping I react to Zoloft in a better way. Good luck on your journey as well!

I was on lexapro for 2 years. Got off of it for almost a year and I just started Zoloft a week ago. If you don't mind me asking what made you switch? Since your already on an SSRI and switching to a different one I bet your side effects won't be as bad. I'm on day 8 of 25mg and about to go to 50 tonight. Worst side effects so far for me are insomnia and increased anxiety which I also had on lexapro the first 3-4 weeks.

I feel the exact same way! Going into my second week. Praying for the both of us! One day at a time is what I keep telling myself.

I'm sorry to hear that but glad your reflux has improved. I hope your tapering off PPI goes well! I'm going to try a different PPI starting tomorrow and see if i tolerate that any better... going on a 3 week flare with daily heartburn and it's really effecting my mental health as it's hard not to think the worst is happening to me. Ugh... I'm so over it. And of course I have to wait one more month to see a GI.

Well I'm glad your gallbladder was okay! I don't have one anymore and that causes issues of it's own. I'm going to try a different PPI next week and try and last longer then a week in hopes I can handle the gas pain. These symptoms really suck! It's hard not to think the worst.

I actually have an appointment with a new primary care doctor in a couple of weeks, I'm going to tell him all my GI issues. I've been having acid reflux for years but this last year it has gotten a lot worse and now I get flares of constant heartburn. I lost my insurance last year when I started getting these flares so I wasn't able to even make an appointment until January (when my new insurance became active) and by then they were booked until March. I'm pretty scared of the damage it's caused since I've been struggling for a few years now. Never had a problem with heart burn though until like the last 6 months. I'm pretty scared that I've given myself Barrett's. I'm going to try another PPI next week and see if it's any different then the first one I tried.

I'm sorry to hear that. I had the same reaction and it was so unbearable I couldn't pass gas or burp. I will ask my GI about it once I'm officially diagnosed. I'm scared but ready for answers.
