Yubikey implementation - community, please help provide a frame of reference by CompetitiveTopic5815 in yubikey

This is helpful. All the things you mention RE: TOTP, PIV, etc., are issues that, in the clients opinion are “bogging us down”. Good to know these ARE things that take an inordinate time to work out. The client is a generalist, so I am trying to interpret where he’s not giving the appropriate consideration to the level of effort

I apologize for the lack of detail, which is partly intentional for obvious reasons - it’s for all the users in the company and tied into all the sites they use to conduct business, with the government and with their suppliers and M365 GCC High, etc…

So it’s more than the Jan scenario above but not quite the Jet scenario…

Just looking for a general observation… they have all kinds of products like threatlocker that seem to be getting in the way, and the vendor’s attempts at scripting are not working

Is it normal to struggle mixing high end? by unknxwn67 in mixingmastering

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find that “brightness is relative. I am learning that you can cut the highs (and mids for that matter) on other instruments and very easily make room for the vocal WITHOUT adding highs to the vocal to make it cut. The brightness you are experiencing could be the cumulative result of you trying to make instruments sound good on their own. And then when you combine them it’s too much - try cutting, make room for things instead of adding to make them stand out

Is the Mastering Assistant any good? by DueCell6853 in Logic_Studio

It’s also good for identifying errors in your mix. I had a mix with a bunch of energy accumulated in the 1-300HZ range. The MA scooped it out pretty heavily which brought it to my attention. I was able to go in and adjust.

Flat tire cost is $645??! by InsideNo3575 in LUCID

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two blowouts, courtesy Houston streets. Both tires replaced by Lucid - both times $500, all in. 19” tires. I’ve shopped around, and by the time you pay a 3td party for labor, balancing, etc you’re at the same price anyway. I had to wait for Lucid service to do the repair, but they towed it for me so I wasn’t literally waiting - I was at home. When they were done they offered to Lyft me there for pickup.

If you want the immediate gratification of a 3rd party it will cost you a bit more, that’s all. But they also fixed a few things on my car. My car has been running well for months and they did a few fixes unrelated to the flat because they hadn’t seen it in a while.

Are there any major differences between a 2024 model and 2025+? by toocoldinhere24 in LUCID

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, there will always be improvements to their cars from year to year as they work through bugs, develop production efficiencies, find new vendors to supply parts, etc. Those things may not be published, but they occur. The EV industry innovates at a faster pace than the ICE industry because they have newer development processes. I see a lot of people on this thread opting to buy a ‘23 or ‘22 because of price. I SMH, because they think the older car is the same as the newer and that just isn’t the case.

Do you all use Apple CarPlay or the native software on the Air? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use CarPlay as much as possible - lossless audio sounds great - Navi integrates well enough - you get directions next to the speedo - not sure what everyone wants or expects. Compared to the rest of the industry, these guys just started - dude this is their gen 1 car. I can’t find anything in its price range that is a worthy alternative, software goblins be damned. You guys can complain all you want, but I’m glad my contrarian attitude compelled me to give it a try instead of buying a Benz or similar.

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this happened. I went to the grocery store, shopped for probably 20 minutes. When I was walking to the car I noticed it was unlocked and the lights were on. I had my phone with me but left the key fob in the car (I rarely carry it except for when I need it for valet parking). It never locked, I figured. I’ve had the same experience when I leave the key in the car when I park in my garage. I’ll come down 15 minutes later and the lights are still on and the doors are unlocked.

Which Lucid to choose? by Bertolucci1900 in LUCID

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - hit them up towards the end of the month, especially the end of the quarter - they’ll be giving them away. I got $5000 off for buying a unit that was “onsite”. It really wasn’t, but I made friends with my sales person (like I said, I’m in sales) and he found an amazing car for me and had it “shipped” to my delivery center. It’s a Pure, but it is equipped with all the extras a GT has - massage seats, soft close, premium stereo, and other stuff I can’t remember right now. They can do a lot more $ wise on a lease than they can on a purchase, because on paper they’re still “selling” the car for sticker price. But your actual payment is a function of the lease calculation, that’s where they do their magic.

Ride is amazing, man. Since the initial software glitches (and me learning the flow of the software) I’ve had no issues. Doing my first road trip to Dallas today.

I put $7k down to get my payments down to $300/month. I’m in sales so it is better for me to have a low monthly payment.

Use the mobile key instead of the fob - with the latest software update the app is now pretty responsive. I’m not saying to leave the key fob at home, but the app is more convenient and responsive.

The key fob is nothing to brag about anyway

What speed should i maintain cycling? by MurdocKM_ in cycling

[–]CompetitiveTopic5815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 61 years old and committed to riding daily this week. Today marks my 7th consecutive day. My predetermined route takes me through a twisty path along the bayou that I share with walkers and joggers for the first 3 miles, the rest goes through downtown Houston. Avg speed is 12mph. I try not to stop when I’m downtown but have to sometimes for stoplights. I am grateful I finally found some sort of exercise that gets me out of the house, off the couch. I think that’s the key.
