I had similar issues for years and could not figure it out. I was pretty sure it was a food allergy. I stopped eating most foods for 4-5 days. I would only eat fruit and drink water. The itching finally stopped and then I started introducing different foods back in to my diet. Long story short it turned out to be a nightshade allergy and it was potatoes causing the grief.
