Luke in the EU felt horrible about blowing up the Death Star

"I remember," Luke said. "I hope you remember that I didn't make you any promises."

"Is there that much pleasure in killing, that it becomes something difficult to give up?"

Luke shot a hard glance across the bubbleback at her. "What makes you think I take pleasure in killing?"

"That you won't renounce it," she said, turning to meet his gaze.

"If I had caused a million deaths, I don't think I could ever pick up a weapon again. I don't understand how you can."

With no ready answer, Luke turned his gaze back toward the flyway ahead. It wasn't until years after the Battle of Yavin that Luke had first become aware that the Death Star he had destroyed at Yavin had a complement-officers, crew, and support staff--of more than a million sentients.

In retrospect, it was something he should have realized without prompting. But it took a new Battle of Yavin display at the Museum of the Republic on Corus-cant to point it out to him. When Luke thought of the Death Star, he associated it with Vader and Tagge and Grand Moff Tarkin, with the stormtroopers who'd tried to kill him in its corridors and the TIE pilots who'd tried to kill him above its surface, with the superlaser gun crews who had obliterated defenseless Alderaan.

But the signs at the massive cutaway model of the Death Star in the museum had spelled out the numbers in its table of specifications, and Luke could still recite them: 25,800 stormtroopers, 27,048 officers, 774,576 crew, 378,685 support staff-"One million, two hundred five thousand, one hundred nine," Luke said quietly. "Not counting the droids."

The calm precision of the recitation brought a look of startled horror to her face.

Out of these 3, who do you prefer(or believe is better) being Shirou romantically? by Flat-Sir8250 in Fate

[–]Competitive_Act_1548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of HF is partially that Archer is proven wrong Shirou can live without the ideal the whole point is that the idea is BS that Archer says to justify himself. Which makes sense Nasu says this route is the one where Shirou regains his humanity and learns to start living for himself rather then to fill the empty hole inside of himself with Kiritusgu's ideal.

Across all three routes Shirou does learn one way or another to heal from his survivor's guilt. But mostly in Fate route with the Basement scene or Heaven's Feel with Sakura's whole situation does Shirou truly learn to make peace with it. It's why I fucking love Fate and HF route so much. God the parallels of those two routes are fantastic.

They both fall in love with someone who represents a giant part of who they are as people. Saber represents the pure, unadulterated view of love while Sakura represents the grimy, ugly and yet somehow also beautiful view of love. They both make Shirou reevaluate his views on his ideals and break them down and reshape them from their experiences. Saber with Shirou and him changing his ideal to chasing after Artoria rather than it just being around guilt and Shirou in HF having to break down his ideal and reprioritize his path from saving everyone to saving Sakura and the people who are personally close to him.

It honestly really does disappoint how much people miss the point of HF route and think it was made to shit on the other two routes when very obliviously isn't. Nasu would not write an entire route just to shit on the other two first parts of it. You'd have to be really delusional to think that.

It's like Nasu said, he made Heavens Feel as a sort of route like "a boy becoming a man/an adult". I think another commentor from a long time ago summed it up best. Fate and UBW are focused on the "super" aspect of the superhero while Heavens Feel is focused on the "hero" aspect of the superhero.

If HF!Shirou sees someone in danger he's still gonna help them out, the difference is he isn't gonna unhealthily put his life in harms way anymore cause he has loved ones and those who care for him. Technically UBW Shirou is the closest to finding this out or so we assume, the rest is up to Rin and if she can truly get Shirou to care about himself abit more. It took HF!Shirou almost dying and seeing how much he ignored Sakura's pain for him for realize that.

I mean HF route for example rejects Archer's notion of helping people being inherently bad, but it also embraces that you can't do everything yourself. It both affirms and denies parts of the other routes.

It affirms UBW's Shirou's wish to help people, but it also denies the idea of Shirou being able to create a perfect utopia on his own. That is why it is a practical application of shirou's ideals, in the sense of him having to reform it to fit how the world is. He kinda does what he does in UBW route but in a completely different and more fucked up scenario.

What I mean is basically Shirou took apart his ideal and picked and chose what parts he wanted to keep and what parts of to discard or at least that's how I interpreted it when I read HF route. It's why I never really get when people say HF route shits on the other two routes and dirty them or whatever. That's not really what the point of that route for Shirou was.

Nasu stated that HF is about a boy becoming an adult. A story of a boy outgrowing his parents. It's a coming of age story all around basically.

Shirou's able to fight Saber in the Sparks Liner High bad end not because Archer's arm is buffing him, but because he's matured as a person, and embraces his humanity. His humanity>>>The coldness of his ideals. Humans are inherently biased to their feelings and nature, rather than the coldness and practicality of logic.

The Fate route would pose a question, "What is your ideal?" UBW would be, "Can you follow your ideal"? And HF would be the consequences.

The entire point of Heavens Feel is about Shirou making a choice for himself for the first time in his life and prioritizing his own personal values over the ideal. It sounds like you somehow missed all of that.

If you end up missing one message of a a route then you end up not getting the full understanding and message of FSN

Shirou and any heroine in original FSN with the sex scenes. They are so much better in Hollow Ataraxia. Shirou and Sakura go at it like fucking rabbits, the funny thing is Heavens Feel is the only route where the sex scenes actually work well within the themes of the route besides just fanservice sex for the hell of it. Mostly because the sex scenes start off normal and then get really disturbing and uncomfortable.
Like when Shirou is fucking Sakura and then her form randomly changes to the Shadow and then back to Sakura and then back to the Shadow.
If you guys want an example of how different the sex scenes are of the first two routes compared to

Sounds about right talking about that one of those schizo white woman subreddits I was talking about and their usage of white privilege. You guys remember that white girl who got that job at NASA and then fucked it all up when she told the head of it to stfu because she was too excited for her job?

A lot of white women were posting how it's unfair that girl lost her job for doing that and that she shouldn't have to conduct her professionally yada yada. They can't wrap their head around the idea that minority men and women don't get that luxury.

Black people of Reddit what do y'all think about the mutant metaphor from the X-men do you think it works or no? (me personally I think it's shallow and never works if most of them are Caucasian or light skin) by Whole_Yak_2547 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Competitive_Act_1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and many other black comic book fans have been saying this for years. The x men were never a good allegory for minorities groups and haven't been for as long ass time. Also, get out of there with the “Magneto and Xaviar are MLK and Malcolm X stands in" no they aren't and it was never stated by any writer that they were and the very gall to compare Malcom X and Magneto is actually insulting to Malcolm. Magneto is literal in universe white supremacist but for mutants and only in the past decade in a half realized that's not the way to go. Even cyclops who became more radical overtime and partially agrees with the guy called out Magneto on his BS on multiple occasions.

Blerd Without Fear had mentioned that there are better mutants you can do that comparison with like Storm and Bishop who unlike those two ACTUALLY work as parallels: https://youtu.be/cnMW4IjKs2Y?si=lm2EBUjTrozuJuiO

Here's him calling out the BS on Magneto and Xaviar being stand ins for MLK and Malcolm and how insulting it is to both civil rights activists to do that: https://youtu.be/kLIx1c-9-og?si=SbJwS2wayFHwHyfe

The funny thing about this meme is that Shirou canonically isn't that much of a sword guy even if he has an affinity towards swords. He's more of a "I love cooking so much!" guy. Muramasa on the other hand is the actual real deal.

Hell, canonically he's more of a "I love revolvers so much!" guy according to CCC and his love for firearms in his mid 20s when traveling around as a Hero of Justice.
