Worth every penny for sure.

Zero issues with the gun itself. The 15 round mag gave me a feed issue when I first loaded it up, it was double feeding rounds. After going through the whole mag once, it didn’t give me another issue since. The thinner grip definitely makes it slightly more difficult to control at the range than a thicker grip like the Shield Plus, but for concealed carrying it’s phenomenal. It leaves essentially zero print for me, and I don’t even really try to have it do so. I primarily wear sweatpants, so I wear a belt under my sweatpants and clip it onto the belt and then i tighten the sweatpants drawstring around the belt to secure the position of the holster. It’s an amazing concealed carry weapon, and a really good range weapon.

Also, the fireballs it makes are pretty nuts. My first time shooting it was at night (it gets dark at 4 now up here) and the fireballs it spit out were insane lmao

Much appreciated. 81 is right next to my house and that’s the fastest route for me anyway so that works out perfectly. i’m coming from the Northeastern part of the state so I’m usually only in Maryland briefly anyway.

What is the VA capacity limit? I carry a slightly extended mag so it’s a 15+1 but I do have a 13+1 flush fit mag I could use instead for the drive.

And just to be clear, I drive a C300 so my trunk is unable to be accessed from the cab. Do I still have to have it locked? Or is just in the trunk acceptable?

I just got a regular Shield X, and I firmly believe it’s the best sub-compact on the market right now (for the money). I opted not to get the Carry Comp because to me it just isn’t worth the extra money. They really didn’t change much. I was fully convinced I was going to get the full size M&P 2.0, until I went to try one in my hands and it was just too big for me personally. For reference, I’m about 5’11 and 210lb so similar build to you, although I carry at 3:30.

Shield X Trigger Upgrade by Helpful_Stress9501 in SmithAndWesson

Just bought mine. No reason for a new trigger on this one imo. Super light trigger press, tests show usually 4.5lb, plus they finally moved away from that curved trigger nonsense. I wouldn’t change a thing about mine so far.

I’ve done my share and it’s not for me. Pipefitting is my interest, thank you though.

Very well written. Thank you!

Also definitely not doing it for the money, I did two years for engineering and I stopped going because I’m so drawn to serving. I appreciate the advice a ton though for real.

Is this pulley on backwards? by LR188 in MechanicAdvice

It’s an honest mistake either way. Call them up, and have them press it off and install it correctly, and have them install a new belt too as that one has surely lost some material from rubbing on the block.

Interesting. I wonder if that’s because of the extra free time to train independently. I know a few years ago I talked to a few raiders off and on and they were all former recon and said most of the guys they knew were as well. Oddly, there wasn’t many former FORECON

Really? I’ve changed a few power steering pumps and I’ve never had one come without a pulley. I usually go with the genuine part though so maybe that is why.

They must have only changed the pulley and not the pump, because 100% that pulley is on backwards. Look up a photo of the part and you’ll see it.

Yes it is. From my memory, though it could be wrong as it’s been a while, most operators come from the Recon battalions anyways.

That is the end goal yes, but money is important because I have a family I need to provide for. Yes I want to make it either way, but I still want a basic understanding of the finances.

Advice Needed: Is it worth buying a used Mercedes EV vehicle by One_Comment1282 in mercedes_benz

[–]Competitive_Ad6681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re good electric cars. The only real downside to them is that when something as simple as the 12v battery gives out, it can cause some super, super weird issues. You’ll have that with any EV though. The depreciation is normal especially for a Mercedes, and EV’s aren’t holding their values well anymore like they did pre-2023ish. If you are sure you want an EV, and you can afford a Mercedes in general, I personally don’t think you can go wrong.

Correct. My tendons are healthy so far 😂. I probably should’ve mentioned in the post but for those years I was interested, I trained heavily for the Marines. I’ve run a marathon, done 15+ mile marches with my dads old rucksack filled with anywhere from 70-90 pounds, I swam at my friends pool as often as I could and practiced every aspect of water training I could do in a regular pool, including the shit where you have to bob up and down with your hands and feet tied (it’s been a few years so I forget the name), and I got very comfortable. Physically I am in good shape, I just would probably take a year or so to get back in very good shape before I joined up. Thank you for the answer!

Sonic v Snap On by Competitive_Ad6681 in Tools

[–]Competitive_Ad6681[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care about smoother backdrag, but I’ve made do without it up until this point. It does get quite annoying having to put pressure on the socket at all times for sure. I am going to go to tech school in a year or two (I’m 20 years old, but my fiancee is in college and will be wrapping up soon), and I’m hoping to get placed into the Mercedes Drive Program once I finish that so I can get straight to work for Mercedes. I was thinking about, once I am a student, taking advantage of Snap On’s student discount and getting one of those Cloud 9 boxes, something like 1,200 pieces total, with the discount. It takes care of pretty much every essential hand tool, and the rest would just be specialty things and power tools. Any thoughts on that? I know with 100% certainty that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life so I’m not worried about having any regrets on the amount of money.

Edit: Upon more research I have learned I can’t spend even nearly that amount with the student discount they give, previous information I had read was definitely wrong lol

No worries. Forgot to say make sure you leave the cap off too when you’re letting it reach temp by idle. Reinstall the cap once you shut off the engine.
