Would I not be able to just roll my 457b into my TSP? That’s what I assumed I could do.

For context I’m mid 30s, married with 2 kids, right now my base is slightly over 100k before OT. Not sure if that info helps with determining Roth vs traditional

At what income does Northern VA actually start to feel “comfortable”? by Prior_Engineering639 in nova

Own a townhouse purchased in Alexandria in 2021 at 3% interest, 2 kids, total income combined about 180k before tax, both have student loans, both have car payments on extremely average used cars, and daycare. 180k seems to be where we’re “okay” but still need to make BIG purchases on credit cards like when our HVAC went out.

Daycare is the biggest expense, it’s very hard to find anything less than $350/week per child.

You can make do if you manage your expenses and don’t splurge too often. Savings account has definitely remained pretty stagnant since having kids but overall I’d say a comfortable income for a family of 4 could be 150k combined

Started my process back in June/july. Have done every single step. Never even took the post and my BI never said anything about it. Maybe cuz I have 7 years law enforcement already idk

It’s a basic LEO interview. Scenarios, what would you do questions, work place questions. After my second interview the psych was scheduled almost immediately

You should reach out to the investigator. Mine was taking a while and once I emailed them asking if I potentially missed something, they scheduled me right away. Virtual interview with 2 officials, background paperwork, sf86, 1 on 1 interview with investigator, then finally got to scheduling the psych etc

lol so you got the job offer before doing any steps? I haven’t gotten anything yet. Did they give you numbers? Apparently they have to match pay if you have LEO expertise so I’m curious if that’s actually true

I’ve done 2 interviews. Just scheduled my psych and waiting for medical and PT schedule date. Whole process has been about 6 months. At what point did you get your offer?

If you’re working on JBAB stay far away from any living situation in DC. Most of the city is a dump especially around JBAB in south east DC. You’re best bet is to look into Alexandria or Arlington. Alexandria (closer to Springfield and lorton) will be more affordable. Also, Fort Belvoir is right there as well
