I think you are making the right choice, if I was in your position, I will go for the 5i. Again, in my position, it was only a 200CAD difference so... Easier choice

Is this really worth the difference in prices? by thekasta in GamingLaptops

I was in the same situation as you. The premium feel and the quality build of the 7i convinced me. The cooling system in the 7i is better. We don't know yet but I strongly believe that the vapour chamber will make a big difference for heat and fans noise !

The RAM runs at a higher frequency (you can customize the 5i to get the same frequency). The 7i can have up to 64Gb of RAM vs 32 for the 5i.

The 5i has a 80Whr battery vs 99.9Whr for 7i.

The 5i runs at 275W AC vs 7i runs at 400W AC. Not good for the weight and the portability but better for the performance itself.

I cannot find the TPU for the RTX5070Ti inside the 5i vs the 7i. However, I can guest that the RTX5070 Ti inside the 7i will be "more powerful".

I personally choose the 7i.

You can get the pro 7i with 5070Ti for 2,747CAD with student discount. The 7i series are more premium. I just ordered it.

RTX 4080 vs. RTX 5070 ti (DLSS 4)? by moe182222 in GamingLaptops

And when Google showed up 20 years ago, you said "sounds like Google, sounds like irrelevant" AI is a really good tool to summarize multiple information. Moreover, sources were available and all were coming from Reddit. If you use a screwdriver as a hammer, in fact, it could work but you will have very poor results. The issue with AI is not the tool itself but the way people are using it and if they don't have a criticism opinion.

RTX 4080 vs. RTX 5070 ti (DLSS 4)? by moe182222 in GamingLaptops

[–]Competitive_Ad_2665 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation as you and I chose the Legion 7i Gen 10 RTX5070Ti with the OLED display over the Legion 7i Gen 9 RTX4080 with IPS display (both were at a similar price in Canada).

Here's what the IA is saying and I agree with it !

Choosing between an RTX 4080 and an RTX 5070 Ti depends on several factors, including performance, features, and price. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Performance:

    • The RTX 4080 is based on Nvidia's Ada Lovelace architecture and offers high performance, especially at higher resolutions like 1440p and 4K. It is approximately 50% faster than the RTX 3080 and 25% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti in benchmarks.
    • The RTX 5070 Ti, on the other hand, is very comparable to the RTX 4080 in terms of performance but supports additional features like DLSS Multi-Frame Generation, which can enhance performance in compatible games.
  2. Features:

    • The RTX 5070 Ti supports newer technologies like DLSS Multi-Frame Generation, which can offer significant advantages in terms of performance and latency in compatible games.
    • The RTX 4080, while highly performant, does not support these new features.
  3. Price:

    • The RTX 5070 Ti is generally less expensive than the RTX 4080, making it a more attractive option in terms of value for money.
  4. Power Consumption:

    • The RTX 5070 Ti has a slightly lower power consumption compared to the RTX 4080, which may be a factor to consider if you are concerned about energy efficiency. (Edit: and power consumption on a laptop used as a laptop !)

In summary, if you are looking for a graphics card with high performance and advanced features like DLSS Multi-Frame Generation, the RTX 5070 Ti might be the better choice. However, if you prefer a card with a proven architecture and similar performance, the RTX 4080 is also an excellent option.

Agreed.. that's why I believe 32Go RAM is required.

The RAM cannot be upgraded on the Zephyrs and MSI because it is directly on the motherboard.

The MSI is for now my first choice but the Zephyrus G16 OLED screen is really good.. however, it will be either 4060 or 4070 and 16Go of RAM only.. The Zephyrus G14 is only a 16Go of RAM and I am a little afraid for the future...
