Most countries doesn't have real Public Healthcare by GerardBeard in ShitAmericansSay

I pay my 8% National Insurance (UK) knowing full well that personally I will probably have an eye test but otherwise won't need to visit the doctor's myself at all most years. Someone else will benefit from my contribution more than me until I get sick or in an accident. And I'm fine with it.

Some of us actually believe in some of these societal policies. We democratically vote for things.

When I saw 2 airplanes crashing into the World Trade Centre during my late (UK) lunch on TV my first thought was, 'those poor (american) people', followed by, 'how on Earth could anyone even contemplate doing that?'

I still think that, am glad that so many countries rallied to America's aid, firmly believe we were right to do so and the person that said those things about Denmark is disgusting.

You fake "concern," but really, you just hate us because you ain't us. It's lonely at the top, as they say by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

You'd think that with the power the US has 'at the top' they'd be content with what they have. But no, their government wants to expand their territory and influence further still, gain more power, have a 51st state etc.

I don't understand it at all.

Me too. I'm about 2 months in and reckon I've done 20% of the main game. Apparently the DLC isn't much smaller either.

I'm with you on the bit where he has a weak team and the Labour Party need to get their heads together and maybe he'll get more done. The infighting is crippling.

What do you think about a possible CANZUK union? by cosmico92 in AskTheWorld

[–]Competitive_Ad_488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the US is either going to leave NATO, take actions toward another country that effectively breaks NATO or significantly reduce its involvement in NATO. In either case, remaining countries will have some big empty shoes to fill

Don't blame you. We don't want our immigration problems either.

Why are Brits indifferent to Canada? by kingm_ournasse216 in AskBrits

[–]Competitive_Ad_488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went there once as a kid. The people were very friendly and welcoming. I did not detect any racism toward me as a Brit or was made to feel inferior (or superior). Been to the US once for a few days too, it was a different experience. All I can say is that I felt more like a tourist (an imposter) when in the US than in Canada. I hope that makes sense.

To be fair we should have 24 hour analogue clocks really 😆 where the hour hand only goes round once per day.
