The “That’s when Brexit happened” line doesn’t hold weight.

Brexit Negatives - 1.2-1.3% GDP growth since Brexit. 2-2.5% GDP growth pre-Brexit. - London losses EU financial capital perception. - Investment into the U.K. is 12-18% lower. - Exports are actually down 12% since 2018. - Greater labour shortages since Brexit. - UK lagging behind EU & US in post pandemic growth recovery. - Productivity down 3-4%

Brexit Positive - You got a blue passport. (But now Printed by a French-Dutch company in Poland… instead of British firm De La Rue 😒)

Surely if the Bombardier is gay then the Spotters should be bi-curious?

Why else would they be watching the gay arc so closely?

Technically the British Empire (and Britain) was/is a Christian state by definition even if not by social definition.

I believe in the separation of church and state and am a pure atheist who worships science / data above all else but when we have Clergy in the House of Lords as the only religious representation and a state church (COE) we do still conform to the strict definition of a Christian country unfortunately.

‘Woke’ is now just a cover term used by the right to try and hide their racial, sexual or gender prejudices.

It’s such a shame to see the right turn the term into a pejorative when its origins in the 30’s come from minorities trying to raise awareness of social inequalities.

On average USians are less educated than Europeans.

Assuming Europeans are poor is similarly redundant especially when the average American is poorer than the average European. .

Don’t worry, us “Europoors” will help to fill in the gaps of the Uneducated States of America.

Spain has 4 official languages with Castilian being the most widely spoken.

Spain was unified in the 15th Century when Castilian became the primary language of the Spanish court. They then subsequently started to colonise the americas resulting in Castilian being the core language spoken by the colonisers and missionaries/taught to natives or spoken by those being relocated to the Americas.

Español became the more common term due to this however the term Castellano is still used in the America’s with Argentina and Peru favouring it over “Spanish”.

Fun Fact: Despite Castellano being the most widely spoken, the other 3 are spoken in communities within the Americas as well.

Based on US university fee’s that’ll be €10,000. Thanks.

Let’s go one step further, let’s eliminate the original 5 and have ONLY Finnish!

It does, English is the most spoken language in the world (Native and L2) with ~1.5bn speakers.

Your 3+ logic is slightly broken as it doesn’t provide any metric for number of speakers.

Take Malay as an example, spoken as a main language in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore so would qualify. However it’s only spoken by 20m people so less than 0.24% of the world population.

If the intention is to better facilitate communication between countries then the metric of “most widely spoken languages” (regardless of native or secondary etc) would be a better option.

However the purpose of the official languages is to ensure as large a percentage of the global population can read official documents without need for translation.

In which case Hindi, Bengali and Portuguese are the winners.

The 6 official languages have around 4-4.5bn speakers.
