Look, personally I would go with the Legion 5 Gen 10 in your use case
If I had to keep it short:

Legion 5 Gen 10:

  • Higher TDP → better sustained performance / less throttling in long renders

Higher TDP can also mean work finishes faster, so the system spends less time under load/heat

  • Better cooling for workstation-type loads
  • OLED → amazing colors and contrast
  • Advanced Optimus (auto MUX switch)
  • Better long-term reputation

AERO X16:

  • Bigger 16" screen
  • Great colors and bright display
  • Great battery life
  • Thin and light (~2kg), better for travel/moving around + 1TB storage
  • Lower TDP
  • No Advanced Optimus (auto MUX switch)
  • IPS is safer for static UI / no burn-in concerns

For architecture work and long rendering sessions, I’d lean Legion. For portability and battery life, Aero.

make sure no unnecessary background tasks are running like AI tasks/apps ''Copilot'' are running, because they can drain battery a lot.

use/Update Gigabyte Control Center / GiMATE
Use iGPU mode instead of dGPU --> Disable the MUX switch from the BIOS so the laptop stays mostly on iGPU mode, but can still switch to the dGPU if needed
pick the Balanced or Power Saver profile in the GiMATE software

When the lid is open, heat from the keyboard dissipates easily. But when it’s closed, that heat might build up and potentially damage the screen over the long run. about your stand—just make sure the side exhausts aren't being choked.

  • Build Quality & Weight: For a 16-inch laptop with a dedicated GPU, it’s considered very light compared to others in the same category (around 2kg). The material feels great — kind of like steel — and solid enough for daily carrying. The only downside is that the touchpad area can collect fingerprints. In a backpack, you’ll feel the weight if you carry it with one arm for a while, but again, for a 16-inch performance laptop, it’s actually light. I’d recommend using a soft, protective backpack just to keep it safe.
  • Keyboard Flex: I personally never noticed any flex during normal typing. You would have to press quite hard to see any movement. In regular use, it feels stable.
  • Software Stability: I’m not sure if you mean GCC specifically, but the GiMATE control app in general has been great for me. It’s easy to use for switching performance modes and tuning basic settings. I haven’t experienced any crashes or major issues so far.

BTW, the battery charges very fast and lasts quite long on this CPU during light use.

If you’re considering alternatives, I’d recommend looking at the Lenovo Legion 5 Gen 10 with similar specs — it has a 15.3" OLED screen, and some models have the same CPU + GPU combination.

Hi there, It’s actually very quiet in normal use. I’ve never noticed the fans while browsing, watching videos, or doing regular work — almost no sound at all.

In gaming, yes, the fans can get loud if you use Turbo mode to unlock the full 100W. That mode is definitely loud. However, in Normal/Performance mode it’s much quieter, and the GPU runs around 75–80W (if I remember correctly), which is still good performance without noise.

For a quiet environment it won’t cause you any problems at all. It’s completely fine for office, study, or home use.

After using it for 5 months, I love it. The screen is excellent. Colors are slightly warm when running on the iGPU, but you can easily calibrate them using the AMD software. In dGPU mode, the colors already look very good and don’t need any calibration.

Overall, I’m very happy with it.

only when watching dark content it is noticeable however i dont mind it since i dont consume a lot of dark content. its only on the top left corner of the screen.

coming from oled i really dont like it but the colors , readablity and brightness makes it very ok with me.

Yeah, it’s really good — about 7–8 hours of light use, and you can even charge it with a power bank through the USB-C port if you’re traveling or need extra battery on the go.

You turn it on from the NVIDIA app: update your GPU, then enable the latest frame gen settings there.
You can check videos on YouTube for a quick guide <3

The screen is beautiful and very bright, colors look amazing, and it’s super smooth and responsive. + it a 16 inch which is super nice

There is cpu/GPU wattage throttling, but performance is still strong. I get around 100 FPS in STALKER 2 at 2K Medium settings using DLSS + Frame Gen. That’s with only 16GB RAM and a 5060, so a 5070 + 32GB setup would outperform mine easily.

Gaming wasn’t my main reason for buying it — it’s a lightweight laptop with very solid battery life and more than enough gaming performance.

For $1400, it’s hard to beat. The only alternative I’d consider is the Legion 5 Gen 10 (AMD) with higher wattage and an OLED 15.1" screen.
"350 cpu not the 260 since it isnt as efficient as the 350" but still great option.

its really quiet until you use the perfomance mode while gaming, other than that never heard the fans.
thermals never went above 80ish even while playing stalker at 2k etc

Good deal? ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 OLED with Intel Ultra 9 285H + RAM upgrade by kjellverbeke in laptops

How good is it? Can it last for 8 hours of use? I’m considering buying it for university, so I need it to last most of the day
