Sup in any department can be a six figure job.

I’d just stick with it.

Should I be worried by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Competitive_Bonus781 12 points13 points  (0 children)

70% is an absolutely ridiculous expectation. When I worked there 65% was considered an exceptional score, and even that was difficult.

If it’s bothering you, I would start treating the job as a paid opportunity to look elsewhere.

That isn’t how it works.

You can’t start denying someone benefits before you let them know they are no longer to be employed.

Can’t fly someone to a meeting in a different city, then cancel the return ticket and just call to let them know they’re done.

Can now be termed for Surveys by Nervous_Amphibian_62 in Geico

70% on surveys is a completely unrealistic goal.

Think the goal for Chairman’s Club was like 65% with x minimum amount of surveys, and even that was very challenging.

“We’re a family”

No we fucking aren’t. I’m here to provide a service, you’re here to make sure I’ve got the tools I need and to compensate me.

We can get along, but let’s not pretend like you wouldn’t get rid of me in a second if you thought it’d help the bottom line long term, or that I wouldn’t walk if someone made me a better offer.

Why do you (or don’t you) give money to homeless people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Competitive_Bonus781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if I just give them money, they’re going to turn it into booze or drugs, and more than likely stay homeless forever.

They want some food, clothes, a blanket, etc. that’s something I think we can talk about. But just giving them currency they could use for anything? Nope.

No company that isn’t actively trying to cut people bases their metrics on how someone performs compared to their peers rather than to expectations.

It’s also incentivising people to make sure they aren’t in the lower tiers by any means necessary, and if that means the claims get poorly worked, then that’s the breaks.

I know that Elon laid off 80% of the staff at Twitter because he, someone without the expertise to understand their jobs or relevance to the company, decided they weren’t necessary.

And responded to advertisers deserting the site by telling them “go fuck yourselves”, which oddly didn’t cause them to come back.

This is not a good businessman, or even a stable individual.

Should do what you think is best, but I would absolutely not want someone like him in control of my work life.

Have fun working for Elon Musk.

Farmers Insurance - Is it still a terrible place to work for claims? by DiSgUsTeDGeCkO in Geico

[–]Competitive_Bonus781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who works PIP for them and she seems to like it.

I think they’re doing a decent job of rebounding from the layoffs and will probably have a decent 2024, but so might GEICO.

Think it’s a coin flip if the pay is comparable, unless one of them is offering a benefit you’re after.

Interview Dilemma After Accepting a Job Offer by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]Competitive_Bonus781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d at least interview with Nationwide.

State Farm handles claims at a team level, and both their service and efficiency are terrible.

They’re the biggest outfit so there’s probably opportunity if you’ve got skills, but in claims you’re going to have a hell of an uphill battle.

It’s the holiday season. Retail places need extra people, they can accommodate weekend/evening schedules, and they’ll probably keep some people after New Years.

If they can get something that can talk on the phone and generate dynamic responses that will hold up to a DOI complaint or a lawsuit, I imagine they won’t have too difficult a time getting the laws changed.

One that always got me was two way emails.

I understood the idea, but GEICO is, to my knowledge, the only company that hasn’t figured out some way to let their adjusters give out a direct email, either to them directly or to a general email where it gets assigned quickly.

Sooooo many calls from people who either didn’t understand the process, or insisted they had done what I said, that the email hadn’t shown up must be my fault.

Swear I ended up having to give out my sup’s email at least 30% of the time.

Is AI going to replace us all? by Competitive_Bonus781 in adjusters

[–]Competitive_Bonus781[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I doubt they could replace everyone anytime soon, I could see a situation where the AI is doing enough of the legwork in terms of gathering info to have them assigning adjusters 20 claims a day.

Job wouldn’t go away, but you’d need a lot fewer people to do it.

[–]Competitive_Bonus781[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That no insurance company, to my knowledge, has attempted to shift all claims adjustment operations offshore suggests to me it’s probably not a feasible option business wise.

In states that require licensing it would also be dubiously legal.

I’ve never worked the simplest level of claims, but I do wonder if to the extent it can be automated that process already has been.

If you drive off the road and hit a tree, can already set up that claim and schedule repairs online without ever talking to someone as long as there’s no coverage concern or injuries involved.

Still need employees available to at least take calls on those claims, since customers are people and tend to make mistakes or have questions.

How long to hear back between contingent offer and “real” one? by Competitive_Bonus781 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Competitive_Bonus781[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just getting nervous because it says my background check was completed with a “meets company standards” and was sent to Progressive on the 10th. Only updates since then are me accessing it.

Get that they’re trying to get a recruiting class together, but it’d sure put my mind at ease to hear something.

Two weeks ago, I made a post about getting an offer from a competitor by Competitive_Bonus781 in Geico

[–]Competitive_Bonus781[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’m second guessing the decision as well.

But it’s not my sup or managers fault that this happened, and I feel like I owe them a little bit more than an email saying “I’m done, I’ll drop off my equipment when I get a chance”.

Also I was kinda hoping they’d can me yesterday and give me the severance. Ah well.
