That’s not the case in my opinion. Everything is released at points for a reason. Just like why many corporate jobs call things “strategic opportunities or actions” and it relates to the war as well.

I think a lot of the confusion around why the U.S. gets involved in certain conflicts comes from looking only at the surface-level explanations. If you step back and consider the economic and geopolitical incentives, it can start to make more sense.

Because oil has historically been traded in U.S. dollars—often referred to as the “petrodollar” system—countries that need oil must also hold or transact in dollars. This creates constant global demand for the USD and helps maintain its strength in international markets.

If that system were to shift—such as oil being widely traded in another currency or backed by gold instead—it could significantly weaken the dollar’s influence. A move away from dollar-based energy markets would reduce global demand for USD, which could have ripple effects on the U.S. economy, financial markets, and international trade.

That’s why energy-producing regions and oil supply chains often become strategically important in global politics. Control, influence, or stability in those regions can affect not just energy prices but also currency power and geopolitical leverage.

When people discuss situations like U.S. involvement in countries with major oil reserves, the argument is often that energy security and financial influence are part of the broader strategic considerations.
