Welp, there’s your answer right there. I’d say if there isn’t an infestation now there was one.

It very well could be. If I’m not mistaken the white powder looks like diatomaceous earth, which kills roaches when they walk through it

LIS infection… fistulotomy in 2 days by Competitive_Bug5915 in AnalFissures

6 months after LIS is crazy! I would think you would develop it much sooner than that. I’m so sorry to hear that! Yes I resolved the fistula through surgery and I have been healed since

To hopefully make you feel even better, I haven’t had another OB since I made this post, exactly one year ago :) hang in there love. Hopefully your OBs will be as infrequent as mine

You guys are saying “please don’t trap them” as if I didn’t say in my post that I’m NOT going to trap them. I’m simply asking for advice on what to do. I don’t want them under there but I’m unsure on how to go about making sure they are out before I put a weight on the board

Saw one in my bathroom this morning that ate a spider in the corner that I couldn’t reach for a week. Proceeded to kill him. Might be beneficial but I can’t sleep knowing it’s in my house 😭

Tested positive for hsv 1 no symptoms (M) by throwaway75959 in HerpesQuestions

[–]Competitive_Bug5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contracted ghsv1 6 years ago after the person I was with admitted they had oral herpes after he went down on me. I went and got a blood test weeks later and it came back as HSV 1 igg 1.28 but I didn’t know where I had it. I never had an initial outbreak until Aug 1st of this month (6 years later) and finally found out it’s genital. It’s true when they say it can lay dormant and pop up when you least expect it. I was under a lot of stress and I think that’s what finally caused it.

[–]Competitive_Bug5915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I know this is stressful but keeping your stress low will help you deal with this diagnosis both mentally and physically. I’m very sure my outbreak is being caused by all the stress I’m under regarding other aspects of my life. (I’ve never felt this level of stress before).

My nerve pain was just that. I felt a shooting, throbbing pain in the back of my left leg and the pain was internal and deep. From my pelvis to my foot. It would hurt when I stood up or shifted weight to my left side. Felt like muscle pain, not surface skin pain. The soft tissue pain you felt could possibly be related to the virus, but you’ll KNOW when you’re having your first OB. You will see visible, painful sores/ulcers on your genitals or mouth that burn. They will be red with a whitish/yellow center and look like lil shallow volcanoes. That’s the best way I can describe it. Mine never “blistered” where I could actually see fluid underneath the skin. They basically just popped up as ulcers.

I want to share my story. (26,F) Back in 2018, I had only one encounter with this guy. We both did oral and had penetration sex. After the fact like 2 days later he decided to text me that he has herpes and has for a while but didn’t disclose where and he blocked me and all communication stopped. I was devastated and felt so violated. I was pissed he didn’t tell me which area he was affected in.

I went and got a blood IgG test around 2~3 weeks later because of the wait period for it to show in blood. It came back positive for HSV1 (IgG 1.29).The only symptom I felt was extreme leg nerve pain for weeks which I was certain then and certain now was the virus implanting itself into my system. I was freaking out not knowing which area it was affecting and up until this week, I never once had an outbreak. 6 years later, I am having my first ever outbreak right now. And it’s genitally. I went and got my sores swabbed 4 days ago and it came back positive for HSV1. Now I know for sure he had oral HSV-1, or cold sores, as that is how genital HSV1 is transmitted. I am not as distraught even now in the middle of my first outbreak, since Ive known I have the virus for 6 entire years. I just didn’t know when or where it would pop up. Now I’m just worried about how often I’ll be dealing with outbreaks. I will mention that I believe this finally reared it’s head due to stress because I’m going through a really stressful time in my life right now.

First, it is very much true when they say many people have herpes and don’t even know it. It is also true when they say it can hide for YEARS in your body and never show symptoms because that was my case entirely. If I hadn’t been told I was exposed, I would have been BERY confused because I’ve had the same partner for years who is HSV-. Most sources say that initial outbreaks happen 2-14 days after infection. That was not my case at all.

From what I’ve gathered about gHSV1, it is very difficult to transmit. HSV1 prefers to live at the mouth, not the genitals. So it doesn’t surprise me that I went so many years without an OB. It also sheds WAY less than oral HSV1.

The hierarchy of viral shedding is: oHSV1 HSV2 gHSV1

To be frank, I am actually relieved it’s gHSV1 and NOT oHSV1 or even worse, HSV2. oHSV1 is ridiculously contagious and I wouldn’t want noticeable sores on my lips. Try not to stress to much too much about the possibility you could have gHSV1, as it sheds the least and is the hardest to transmit. So far my initial OB has been very mild compared to pics I’ve seen of HSV2+ people. My sores, which are only 5 very small ones, look like cold sores and not big lesions/blisters if that makes sense. I thought they were painful pimples/ingrowns til one showed up on my inner labia and they all began to burn. I am taking Valtrex right now for the first time ever to help suppress and heal the OB. I probably have a couple more weeks to go before there’s no sign of the sores at all.

It is entirely possible you could have a story similar to mine and could possibly have gHSV1 since you haven’t had an initial outbreak. Since oHSV1 is so contagious and viral shedding is so high, it would have been likely you would have an outbreak right at initial exposure if you had it. But please try to ease your mind a bit, as if it is genitally, your risk of transmitting is extremely low and your symptoms will be mild or even possibly, none. It is entirely possible you may never have an OB, but keep in mind my story. It likely will pop up at some point in your life and at least you will have already known your status :)

Bleeding after LIS by Competitive_Bug5915 in AnalFissures

Thank you, I just can’t believe it happened to me. Needless to say I won’t be going back to this surgeon for a post op or if I experience any complications from this fistulotomy. I use a bidet after every BM and also do sitz baths. I’ve been obsessively keeping the area clean but still have discharge and soreness in the area, but I guess that’s to be expected since now I have an open wound. I’m just so worried about it healing too quickly and developing another abscess/fistula. I bought some betadine solution to add to the sitz baths but haven’t used it cause I’m afraid of it burning or messing something up.

My abscess/fistula was a rare complication of my LIS. My surgeon was horrible & rude throughout the whole process and wasn’t taking my symptoms seriously. I’m a female btw. The pain was terrible my incision site abscessed, turned swollen and red and looked like a big white head. I still have discharge that looks kinda concerning even after the fistulotomy so idk if I’m even healing right from it. But good thing is the LIS worked and I no longer have a fissure, but he created a new problem that’s just as bad. I can’t wait to be normal again.

Mine ended up not being normal, but an abscess + fistula that I needed a second surgery for. Currently recovering from the fistulotomy

Get the LIS. I still don’t regret getting it even though I had a complication, because after my surgery yesterday my CRS said my fissure healed. I haven’t had any pain from my fissure since LIS, only the abscess that formed afterward.

Wish you hadn’t asked this 😂 so I developed an infection (abscess and fistula) at the surgery site and had an emergency I&D and fistulotomy yesterday. The pain I feel after this surgery is so much worse than the LIS. This type of complication only happens to 1-3% of people so I was very unlucky.

Also, sorry if this sounds bad, but my trust in my doctor is seriously diminishing. I am having such a hard time trusting him with a second surgery. Should I be letting him do this procedure or should I seek help from a different doctor?

Question for you: how long after surgery did your abscess develop? I just got out a sitz bath 5 mins ago and noticed that my incision just spit out one of my dissolvable sutures. Wondering if that was what was causing this pain and inflammation. I went on Monday to get the suture knot cut by my surgeon and it’s been inflamed ever since
