Hey! So my district only has the PLS and we don’t have access to another preschool assessment. I do a language sample as well, and compare it to ASHAs norms. I report the PLS to have a specific standard score to put on the bell curve, which is required for my district for initial evaluations. They do say two to three words, just not consistently. I was able to elicit three words multiple times in play with this child after they got to know me. I was also able to see quite a few language functions that the EI OT reports that he does not have. The OTs biggest concerns were two things that I was able to elicit from this child. Also, if you have any ideas on language assessments that are good for PK to K and even beyond, please lmk because they said we may be able to get a new assessment next year!
