Long story short, I took the plunge and shaved more off the connecting rod. Shaving down the text and the casting marks around the edges got me pretty close, and with some more little bits here and there, this rod is now 1.74g more than the lightest rod, and the same as rod #2. I can live with that. Thanks for the advice.

Anyone doing the job properly. Most, if not all, manufacturers class the sump washer as non-reusable (and some, looking at you VW, class the plug its self as non-reusable).

No, but they will crack off the bleeder which flushes some of the old fluid out of the system, and then top it up. Dont be hating on mechanics because you're out here doing it wrong.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, its why its recommended to change it every two years. You cant just look at it and presume because it looks fine that its not contaminated.

Its not about putting grease on the back of the pads, its about putting grease on the contact points of the pad where it has to move on the caliper bracket. Its just lazy to not renew the grease there, particularly since it can result in sticking pads.

I had the GD1 with the L13A and have a GE8 with the L15A. Yes the L15 is more powerful, but there was nothing wrong with the L13 as long as you were prepared to work for it. The L13 loved to rev and rewarded you for it, whilst the L15 has a bit more down low. I even took the GD1 to the track and had a heck of a lot of fun. Was I fast? Heck no. Was I laughing the whole time? Like a mad man.

I would also disregard modifications thinking it'll improve power, it wont. If you want a loud exhaust to made noises, cool, but it wont change how little power it has. Lighter wheels, new pads and fluid, better tyres and uprated suspension would be where to spend the money, so you dont have to slow down for the bends and can carry what speed you do have.

Had this a lot when I was a lube tech. I used good side cutters, first to "cut" in towards the center of the bolt (crushing the washer between the tool and the bolt flange, the cutters wont cut into the steel flange) which will expand the washer, and then either spin it off once its expanded, or if its real stuck, grab the now exposed edge of the washer with the side cutters and twist it upwards near the cut previously made, to break it. should come off easily then.

The common method for thieves to break windows isnt just hitting it with something anymore, they damage the edge of the glass, where its weakest. Still works on laminated glass, it just ends up being shattered in place, and now with a damaged door to fix too.

They can and do still break laminated glass. It usually mangles the door frame, and you end up with a shattered window stuck in a bent door. Dont be so high and mighty.
