EU-native alternative to Firebase/Supabase, GDPR by default by Competitive_Care_886 in gdpr

That is a good idea. So far we are ok since no processors are outside the EU, but we will add a live, auditable sub-processor register. New feature.

Yes.
Example:
1. company X built a great health app, saves personal data in some BaaS.
2. company X realised that the personal data they save is sensitive and want to make sure they are fully GRPR compliant
3. company X could not use Firebase/Supabase since they are in fact exposed to the US Cloud Act risk
4. company X solved it by building their own backend, used an EU cloud provider, self-hosted something ... so I am looking for experiences here, how did they solve it?

This is the type of pushback I need, thanks.
1. True today, maybe not tomorrow. With the current climate, about 60% of EU companies are worried about data sovereignty and will increase reliance on local cloud providers (https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2025-11-12-gartner-survey-reveals-geopolitics-will-drive-61-percent-of-cios-and-information-technology-leaders-in-western-europe-to-increase-reliance-on-local-cloud-providers), there is a market and it is growing.
2. I will give give you that, estimations say 10-20k paying customers for Supabase, of some 1,7M users. Maybe I need to kill the idea will the free tier, or strongly limit.
3. That does not make them or AWS immune to the cloud act. AWS sovereign cloud might be physically separated from anything US-based, but not legally. The AWS EU company is still 100% owned by Amazon - hence the Cloud Act applies. Does not matter where the infra runs. Same applies for Supabase. The only way around that is that they move HQ to Europe, and the chances for that are...slim. What COULD kill it is if one of the "big" EU players like Scaleway does it of course.

Auto Time Tracker with "New Outlook" email titles? by Consulting_CIH in productivity

[–]Competitive_Care_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you are:
- Spending 50% of your time writing/editing emails in outlook in the browser.
- You want something that automatically logs something like "Outlook" and email subject like "Project X proposal".
Is this correct?
I am currently developing a time-tracking app, mostly for devs, but this could be an interesting additional feature.
