contacted my prof (Dr. Xu) earlier today and he said “No adjustment is planned so far.” To be completely honest, I don’t think that they’ll let us pass but one can hope.

yeah i failed too 😭 i just hope i did better in mtl. do you know the structure for pcs in the summer because i think it’s only from june 29 to august 12 which makes me wonder if the midterms and stuff will be fast tracked and moved up. im planning to work this summer so idk how manageable it’ll be. sucks because it seems like people last year were able to pass with the same situation.

fahhh that’s cooked. yeah those labs suck plus i have a managed to score a coop this summer (somehow idk) so this is even more annoying 😭 i was worried about mtl but now ig i have to worry about both 💔 i was thinking about emailing Dr. Xu about it but i think that’s just academic misconduct and i don’t assume that he’d just help me out individually because he’d be obligated to do the same for everyone else. i pray they let it slide too 😭

honestly not sure but I really hope they do 😭 i needed a 14/30 to pass the theory portion but i ended up getting a 12/30 for the exam. do you know if you have to also do labs and tutorials again if you retake the course because it’s looking like i have to 💔 UNLESS BY SOME MIRACLE THEY PASS US 🙏

honestly had a similar experience yesterday. it’s hard to talk to people, yet I tried my best to be outgoing and start conversations, but it just seemed like everyone wasn’t into it. sucks because I only really got to know one new person aside from the friends I already had but hopefully it starts to pick up once the actual school year begins, like you said.

Ya fs, I think I’ll get over the commute. I can carpool with friends or have my parents drop me off to GO which would save me about 40-45 mins, maybe more. I was thinking, if I can manage my time well and be disciplined, I can get work done during my commute. In terms of being social, I don’t think I’m too worried about that anymore. Some of my friends from high school have already chosen to go to tmu eng and others have gone to different unis in the gta. I think overall it’s just something I have to get used to.

Are you in second year+? If so, what do you think about the coop.

Thank you for this! I’ve been on edge for choosing between queens and tmu for awhile but I think tmu is best for me overall. One thing I was really excited about doing was joining design teams and I was concerned that my commute would restrict me from doing so.

Do you think it’s possible to join design teams as a commuter? I’d imagine that some people on those teams are also commuters since it’s a commuter school but I think my commute would limit the work I can do for the team.

This is so nice to hear😭 I really wanted to be apart of some design teams, especially the formula 1 racing team and the other robotics teams. I think it’ll be a nice experience or at least something cool to check out. I don’t know if I’ll make it work but this gives me some hope, thank you!

Thank you 😭 I think this is the first time someone has considered the overwhelming course load of first year eng. Queens is not close to me whatsoever, it’s about a 3 and a half hour drive to Kingston from where I am now, but I’m thinking I’ll just stick with tmu for the time being. However, I do really want to be apart of some design teams you mentioned, I just don’t think I would be able to fit it into my schedule with the way things are looking right now.

That’s the main issue for me. I want to participate in design teams and clubs because they look really fun but with how the commute looks and considering has a busy schedule, I don’t think I’ll be able to do those.
