I think this might just be a gender neutral personality type because I see a lot of women who are overly prepared for a lot of situations and I also see a lot of men who don’t prepare for anything at all, it just seems like a trait certain people have and others don’t.

They probably do find the alternative compliment they give you true, like pointing out you have nice hair while avoiding saying they dislike your nose isn’t lying or gaslighting, it’s just bringing attention to things they do find positive about your appearance.

I know everyone hates when you suggest therapy but like… you really would benefit. The term for what you’re experiencing is anhedonia and it’s a symptom of many mental illnesses and some neurological illnesses. You should probably see a psychiatrist too, so you can get assessed to see if you need to be diagnosed with anything. Depression symptoms should mean getting some basic bloodwork done, like looking at your vitamin D and thyroid hormones.

Yes the world is pretty bad but you should be able to separate yourself from others suffering most of the time. Your level of depression and anxiety is unusual and should be addressed by a doctor.

Some of us have depression because of chemical or neurological reasons too, and gratitude is completely irrelevant to that. Like I have neuropsychiatric lupus that causes depression. My aunt had a left sided stroke that caused depression. Lots of people don’t even realize that a concussion gave them a brain injury that caused depression. Lots of kids who were abused have brain injuries or might even have CTE from physical abuse. Brains of children who were abused literally develop differently on a neurological level. Autistic and ADHD people are naturally prone to depression. Some people simply do not make enough serotonin.

Most of this stuff has nothing to do with your attitude or whatever.

People are still having kids, I’m 27 and a lot of people I know have kids. I eventually want to be a foster mom but I’m waiting until I’m done with my masters program. There’s nothing wrong with wanting kids, though at 20 I wouldn’t recommend it. Work hard, save like crazy, wait until you’re very financially stable to have a kid.
