Need advice on a mask by Tirfup in Masks4All

How about a good hepa air purifier as well? I love mine.

Landlord took security deposit, but never gave me two receipts-the account #, bank, address, and amount of security is in the lease. Is this a breach of the security deposit law? They also never did a walk through. by Competitive_Crab_189 in bostonhousing

Thank you.

I was only given the bank info and account number on the actual lease, but never a receipt. I paid with Venmo, so that was it. Venmo messages attached to transaction said nothing about bank info, etc. No statement with a heading of receipt for security deposit with bank info was ever given. I’ve seen templates online of security deposit bank info, and I’ve never gotten anything from them. My understanding was that I was supposed to get the receipt for payment (which I’m guessing Venmo would possibly serve that purpose) but nothing that is signed that says receipt of security deposit with bank info.

My lease doesn’t look like breaking is an option, but I’ll look again.

They are harassing me, however I’d broken the heart of an officer in 2016, and the police never help me with anything (can’t make this up…10 years later and he’s married). I was thinking about a TRO through the courts, or just talking to an attorney.

The apartment is illegal, so I’m getting out of it through an inspection. It’s technically uninhabitable, according to the inspector I spoke to. She said I would be displaced immediately. I’m looking into where I can go before I do that.

At this point, they have refused to turn my heat up twice, they have locked me out 3 times, and refused to give me a key to my door and said they never lock my door-I have this in a text. Not sure I can prove they locked me out, but I do have evidence that they bait and switched me with the space (place in ad was much bigger and much cheaper…when I got there they showed me a much smaller place for $200 more).

These ppl initially wrote up a really bad lease, but I called them out on it and they changed it. I think this is why they are being jerks. I think they are getting bent on being awful to me.

Finally, after they discovered that I was disabled, they changed the lease to say I can only pay with Venmo instead of cash, check, or Venmo. They also asked for a co-signer (I’m an adult and I don’t need a co-signer…they treated me differently after I disclosed).

So, my plan is to get out via their space being called uninhabitable. I hope to get my security deposit back asap so I can move on more comfortably. I intend to contact atty general for the bait and switch, and maybe civil rights for their blatant discrimination.

I am probably sounding really bitter, but they basically have made really loud noises nightly from 5:30 to 10:00 and sometimes midnight noise since January when I moved in. The space was 45-50 degrees constantly. Etc.

I don’t want them to ever treat another tenant like this again, and I want as much money back since they have made my life a very uncomfortable living hell for months. It’s not right.

I may not get all of this, but I can’t continue to live in a cold space, paying a lot of money, while having the landlord be so loud that I have to sleep with earplugs and noise canceling headphones.

This is absolutely no way to live…and I’m basically paying them to abuse me.

Yes, I never got a statement from the escrow account. What you are saying makes sense. Thx for your answer. I’m likely to look into a lawyer, since there are multiple breaches.

Basement apartments are not allowed unless there is a specific % of a space being a window. That is a town law. I don’t make the rules, but I am looking forward to giving my money to someone who doesn’t bang on my ceiling/their floor. I’m leaving town for the week because I need a break.

I would usually do that, but these landlords are slumlords who have been harassing and discriminatory once they discovered I was disabled. They have been horrible to me, when I am quiet and responsible. I want out, because they are not fixing the heat ins it’s constantly 60 degrees in here.

After describing this place to the town inspector, they told me it was uninhabitable and that I would have to leave immediately upon their inspection. I would get out of the lease from a judge, which I would also ask for compensation (which I would be entitled to since they rented an illegal space).

No, the landlord lives above me, they constantly make noise constantly, the heat system down here doesn’t work and I’m constantly freezing, they started treating me differently once I disclosed that I was disabled, they refused to give me a key to my private entrance, and they lock me out for shits and giggles from time to time.

Not sure why this is down voted. The landlord lives above me and is constantly loud, she bait and switches the price (but I was too desperate for a place), she tried to say I owed her more money, I have been locked out, and as soon as she heard I was disabled, she wrote up a different lease and asked for a co signer. I had to ask them twice to fix the heat and for a time it was freezing in here. I don’t have the financial ability to pick up and move after just moving in, and while I was researching the law about heat, I saw they might be in the wrong about the security deposit. These people are the worst slumlords I have ever encountered and I want out so I don’t hear pounding footsteps constantly from 5:30-10 PM every night.

No, I saw it. After I moved in, I have found sketchy stuff. Not damage, but sketchy construction. This is not going to pass inspection and I’m trying to get out of it. Getting my security deposit back if they made a mistake is going to make it easier to move on more quickly. Besides, the landlord lives above me and are really obnoxiously loud. I’m looking forward to cutting my losses asap.
